Alomomola was released as part of the Valentine’s Day 2020 event in Pokémon Go, along with its Gen 5 Pokémon companion, Audino.
Alomomola was inspired by several different fish. Its body resembles that of a sunfish and the fact that it can be wrapped in a special membrane may be inspired by the parrotfish. Some species of parrotfish have the ability to create mucus before sleeping, which masks their scent and, in doing so, protects the fish from nearby predators.
