On March 12 at 8:00 pm ET, Los Angeles will host the 95th Academy Awards. Whereas, it will be accessible via live streaming in India between 6:30 and 7:00 am on March 13. Did you know that the 2023 Oscars will break the 62-year tradition of champagne-colored red carpets? The Oscars red carpet dates back to 1961 during the 33rd Academy Awards. With the red carpet color change this year, the Academy will replace its 62-year-old tradition. Jimmy Kimmel, who will host the 95th Oscars on Sunday, presided over the occasion and joked: “I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet instead of a red carpet shows our confidence that no blood will be spilled.”
Indian cinema in the Oscar nominations
On Tuesday, actors Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed revealed the nominees for the 95th Academy Awards. And luckily, India received three Academy Award nominations this year. There have been nominations for the Indian documentaries All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers in the categories of Best Documentary Feature and Best Documentary Short Film, respectively. “Naatu Naatu” from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has received a nomination in the Best Original Song category. However, RRR was not nominated for any additional Oscars.

Who will host the 2023 Oscars?
Late night host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the Oscars after hosting in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, the Oscars will be hosted by David Niven, Conrad Nagel, Jerry Lewis and Steve Martin. Among those who have hosted more than three times are Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon, Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal and Bob Hope.
On March 2, 2023, the Academy also released the preliminary list of presenters for the 95th Oscars. Along with Deepika Padukone, Emily Blunt, Riz Ahmed, Dwayne Johnson, Glenn Close, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Connelly, Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Majors, Troy Kotsur, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Questlove, Zoe Saldaa, and Donnie Yen, the list also includes Jonathan Majors, Troy Kotsur, Melissa McCarthy and Michael B. On Sunday, March 12, Ovation Hollywood’s Dolby Theater will host the 2023 Oscars. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will perform SS Rajamouli’s RRR song Naatu Naatu live during the prestigious awards ceremony.
The upbeat dance song is nominated for an award in the Original Song category, competing against songs like “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and “This Is A Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once.
