One of Jharkhand’s most notable activists, a diligent and popular leader, passed away today. The respected Jagarnath Mahato ji passed away in Chennai while undergoing treatment. Furthermore, he prayed for peace for the soul of the deceased and strength for the grieving family to bear this great loss.

Tiger Mahto was born on January 1, 1967 in a small village called Alargo, Bokaro district, Jharkhand. The high school dropout minister attended Nehru High School in 1995. Later, he left his studies midway to actively pursue politics.
The Dumri Assembly seat has been a stronghold of the JMM and Jagarnath Mahto represents his seat since 2000. In the 2014 Assembly elections, he received 77,984 votes, defeating his nearest opponent, Lalchand Mahto, who contested on a ticket of the BJP.

Death of Jagarnath Mahto: Reason
Jharkhand Education Minister Mahto tested positive for COVID-19 in the year 2020. He was taken to Chennai for better treatment, where he remained in a coma for a long time. The 56-year-old leader also underwent a lung transplant, before returning to the state after nine long months of continuous treatment.
Mahto was later flown back to Chennai after he reported concerns during the state budget session last month. And on Thursday morning, after suffering multiple organ failure, he died at MGM Healthcare.

Dumri’s representative has been in the news for several good and bad reasons over the years. After facing criticism for his title as education minister, he decided to continue studying. In 2020 he gained admission to the same school that he built and inaugurated in his ancestral house.
He was one of the first Ministers of Education to give away cars to the best in the state. While before this, in 2011, he was in the news for his Janta Darbar. Due to the absence of a court in the area, he started his own parallel justice system in Dumri. He believed that only sticks and canes can reform the rebellious youth of the society.
MA Subramaniam, the Tamil Nadu health minister, arrived at the MGM Hospital to pay his last respects to the soul of the deceased. On the other hand, considering it an irreparable loss to Jharkhand politics and administration, CM Hemant Soren called for two days of state mourning.
