The Monster Hunter World Boaboa quests are an optional end-game quest line that is required to complete all Research Requests for Researcher Lynian’s Surveyor Set.
The Boaboa are similar to the Gajalaka and Grimalkyne quests you faced earlier in Monster Hunter: World.
Like Gajalaka and Grimalkynes, Boaboa can also help you in the field once you have befriended them. You’ll also be given the Tailraider token upon completing this quest line, which can come in handy in a pinch!

How to start the Boaboa questline in Monster Hunter World
To get them to help you, you’ll need to complete the Gajalaka and Grimalkyne Tailraider quests from Monster Hunter World.
Next, you will have to start Iceborne and reach the new Hoarfrost Reach area by defeating Beotodus. Once you have access to Seliana, speak to Researcher Lynian near the Council Room to begin.
How to complete Cultural Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach
Researcher Lynian will give you a reward called Culture Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach. Here, you will have to go on an expedition to the Hoarfrost Reach and hunt a monster in front of Boaboa.
We recommend looking for a Beotodus or a normal old Banbaro, as the hunts are not too difficult and easy to complete if you are just starting out with Iceborne.
While hunting the monster, you will notice the Boaboa begin to gather and after the hunt, they will tell you to return to the southernmost camp in Area 1. Head over and they will invite you to their lair. Doing this will complete Cultural Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach.
How to complete Cultural Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach II
Once this is done, you will automatically activate the next reward, Cultural Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach II. Head to the South Camp in area 1 and towards the hot springs in area 2, following the Boaboa along the way.
Next, you will be asked to hook up with a wing dragon. The Wingrake will soon drop you off at area 17, the Boaboa lair.
Head into the cave beyond the hot springs and the leader of Boaboa will give you an optional quest to hunt down a Temperate Beotodus, named By Our Combined Powers. This will conclude the Cultural Exchange: Hoarfrost Reach II.
How to complete Boaboa’s final mission, by our combined powers
First of all, we recommend that you equip yourself with the best fire element weapon you have, in addition to carrying good ice resistance equipment. Be sure to bring Nulberries with you for Iceblight, or bring your Iceproof Mantle and eat for Elemental Resistance (L), if you can.
Once you are in the mission, Boaboa will explain what you need to do for the first phase. You need to attract a Popo to an area to attract the temperate Beotodus. Then, advance towards area 4 and go towards the Popo surrounded by the Boaboa.
Pick up a rock along the way and shoot it at Popo, and he will move north to Area 6. There, when he is in position, you just need to wait for the Beotodus to appear.
As the hunt progresses, the Boaboa will shout instructions and lend you a hand. For us, this appeared in Area 2. The Boaboa will do extra damage and set traps for the monster, so keep an eye out. .
As a reward for completing this, Boaboa will give you the Tailraider signal, which can call the Tailraiders in the middle of the hunt and come to you.
Additionally, you will now be able to use raider vehicles on Wulg in the Hoarfrost Reach. You will also earn a bronze hunter’s pendant that you can equip on your weapon.
