14 things you should try in Mass Effect Andromeda

Remnant vaults and monoliths

As explained in A Better Start, you can find and activate Remnant Vaults on a planet by finding the monoliths on the surface, solving their remnant deciphering puzzles, and then entering and exploring the Vault.

Inside, you can sometimes expect more puzzles, some platforming, and some combat, making them the closest thing the game has to classic RPG dungeons.

The rewards for completing them are worth it. Exploring each of them not only gives you components you can use to craft, but will also increase the viability of that planet by 40%, more than any other quest or side activity.

It will also help stabilize the planet’s atmosphere and make it easier to explore thereafter, so they should definitely be on your list of activities to prioritize when exploring these new pastures.

How Remnant Deciphering Puzzles Work

Remnant Decryption puzzles are required to solve many of the game’s alien interfaces, such as Vaults and Monoliths, as well as other terminals in side quests and other areas, which require you to essentially play a game of Sudoku, where instead of numbers you have alien symbols. .

If you’re not familiar with Sudoku, the goal is not to duplicate any number (or in this case, a symbol) in any row, column, or corner section of the grid.

Find an empty place, scan the rows, columns and surrounding section and insert the symbol that is unique.

Obviously, this is easier said than done, and with multiple empty spaces there is a process of elimination involved or determining which points require others to be resolved first before you can be sure of their solution.

If there are question marks instead of symbols, as is often the case on a Monolith, you may not have found all the glyphs needed to solve it.

Simply exit the puzzle and scan the surrounding area to find the glyph location. SAM will notify you when you have them all and the puzzle is ready to be solved.
