Manish Sisodia: early life and career
Born in a Rajput family in Uttar Pradesh, Manish Sisodia was enrolled in a government school in his village. His father was a public school teacher. After graduating in journalism, he began his career as a journalist.
Early in his career, he also worked as a radio jockey for an FM radio station.
During the days when he worked for All India Radio, he hosted shows like “Zero Hour”. After working with All India Radio, he started working with Zee News as an anchor and news reporter.

Manish Sisodia Early Life
activist movements
Manish Sisodia was a key volunteer at the non-profit organization Parivartan, founded by Arvind Kejriwal.
Sisodia then formally left journalism and joined hands with Arvind Kejriwal to form Kabir, a non-profit organization to organize public hearings with government officials.
Furthermore, Manish Sisodia was one of the main people who pushed for the drafting of the Right to Information Act. He was also involved in the India Anti-Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare in 2011, which sought the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Political career
Manish Sisodia was a key figure in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He became a member of the party’s Political Affairs Committee. In 2013, Manish Sisodia was elected to the Legislative Assembly after defeating Nakul Bhardwaj by 11,476 votes.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, he was again elected from Patparganj, this time defeating a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate by 28,761 votes.
In 2020, he again emerged victorious in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, defeating Ravinder Singh by over 3,000 votes.

Manish Sisodia has always been known for bringing radical reforms in many areas.
Educational reforms
As Delhi’s finance minister in 2015, Manish Sisodia took the drastic decision to double funding for the public education programme. So far, the Delhi government allocates a quarter of its total budget for this.
Manish Sisodia has also worked on reconstruction of infrastructure construction of schools, construction of football fields, auditoriums, hockey turf and modern classrooms along with technology-based teaching aids.
Sisodia gave rise to many other significant educational interventions, such as advanced teacher training modules. Furthermore, the state-run Mission Buniyaad program also proves to be an exemplary step in improving critical learning outcomes of students.
Another notable reform by Sisdoia is his experimentation with Deshbhakti curriculum, Business Mindset Curriculum and Student Happiness Curriculum, paving the way for a new age curriculum.
It should not be missed that Manish Sisodia has also established three prominent state universities in the field of higher and technical education, namely Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), Delhi Sports University (DSU) and Delhi Teachers University.
Economic reforms
The government’s budget has doubled in Manish Sidodia’s seven years of business management as Finance Minister in Delhi. This has been made possible by increasing the tax base, ending the “Raid Raj” and plugging leakages. Sisodia also presented the highly acclaimed Performance Budget, which proves to be a revolutionary step towards improving political accountability of public finances.

Currently, he is a cabinet minister in the Third Kejriwal Ministry. He is in charge of many departments of the Delhi Government namely Finance, Tourism, Labour, Land and Construction, Services, Culture, Language, Arts, Vigilance, Planning, People with Disabilities and Education.
