Players will soon have the chance to get a Shiny Machop in Pokémon Go. It’s probably the main reason you’ll want to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour.
There are plenty of other reasons to look forward to the Pokémon Go event. You will be given the opportunity to capture as many Machop as you can, with the chance to capture a Machop with 100% perfect IV stats.
Machop’s Spotlight Hour falls on a fairly quiet day in Pokémon Go. However, it’s right after this year’s Pokémon Go anniversary celebration, where trainers had a lot to do that week.

Machop IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Machop with perfect IV stats.
Once you’ve captured a Machop with 100% IV stats, you’ll have the option to turn it into a Machoke with perfect stats and then into a Machamp. While they don’t have much influence in Go Battle League, they can be useful when fighting Team Go Rocket Grunts or in raids.
The CP values that correspond to perfect values of 15/15/15 are as follows:
- Level 30 (Max Wild CP) – 1096 CP
- Level 35 (maximum CP boosted by weather) – 1187 CP
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is there a shiny Machop in Pokémon Go?
Good news: there is a shiny Machop in Pokémon Go.
Shiny Machop, along with the shiny version of its evolutions Machoke and Machamp, was released as part of the Mega Battle Showdown on March 5, 2019.
If luck is on your side, you can find a Shiny Machoke in the wild, but if not, you can get one by evolving a Shiny Machop using 25 Machop Sweets.
Remember: Care Hours only increase the number of Machop that appear in the wild, not their glow rate. This means that unlike Community Day, Machop’s shiny rate will not increase during this event.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Other reasons to catch as many Machop as possible
Aside from the chance to catch a shiny Machop in Pokémon Go, there are other reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The bonus of this Featured Hour is the double capture of Candy, which means you will be rewarded for each Pokémon you catch. Along with Machop, it could be a good excuse to prepare a Mystery Box to catch more Meltan candy.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Machop candies to fully evolve this Pokémon into Machoke.
- Thanks to Machop being a fighting type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your fighting medal.
Spotlight Hour events only last one hour, from 6pm to 7pm (local time), but don’t worry if you can’t participate in this week’s event. Next week, Staryu will be in the spotlight on July 19, with the very useful double capture bonus.
