The area of Europe is approximately 10.53 million square kilometers (4.06 million square miles). The continent is bordered to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the east by the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the Ural Mountains. The most common languages spoken in Europe are English, German, French, Russian, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Spanish, Nordic languages, and Eastern European languages. English is the most spoken language in Europe, with more than 380 million speakers.
