Every year on April 29, International Dance Day is celebrated to celebrate this beautiful art form and value other dance forms worldwide.

International Dance Day 2023: History

This dance day is celebrated worldwide and was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI), UNESCO’s main partner for the performing arts. The date of April 29 was chosen because it is the birthday of the famous French dance artist Jean-Georges Noverre, born in 1727, ballet master and great dance reformer.

The creators and organizers of the events are ITI by UNESCO. Let us tell you that in 1982 International Dance Day was created and since then an outstanding personality has been selected to write a message for International Dance Day. Even the ITI, in a selected host city, creates a flagship event where various dance performances, educational workshops, speeches by dignitaries, dance artists, humanitarian projects, etc. are held.

9. Kathakali dance form It is a fabulous artistic performance dance form. It originated in the Deccan part of the Indian subcontinent. It is a flourishing art form of Kerala. It is also considered one of the most difficult dance forms in India.

10. Manipuri Dance Form As the name suggests, this dance form originated in Manipur, the northeastern part of the country. It is a vibrant classical dance that revolves around pure Indian mythological stories of Indian gods and goddesses.

International Dance Day or World Dance Day is celebrated around the world to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of dance. It also aims to persuade governments around the world to provide a suitable place for dance in all educational systems.
