Moondew Nectar is a food resource in Slime Rancher 2 that you must collect to feed Flutter Slimes.
Feeding a Slime its favorite foods will produce more Plorts, which you can then use to craft new items and abilities, or sell them at the Plort Market for Newbucks. There are even Gordo Slimes that you must feed their favorite food to force them to explode and stop blocking a path or door.
However, you can’t get to Moondew Nectar until you first jump through some hoops, and even when you locate Nectar, you have to go at the right time to add it to your inventory.
To help you feed your Flutter Slimes as soon as possible, we’ve detailed how to get Moondew Nectar in Slime Rancher 2 below, along with everything we know about Flutter Slimes, including how much nectar it takes to pop a Gordo Flutter Slime.

How to get Moondew Nectar in Slime Rancher 2
Moondew Nectar is the only type of nectar currently available in Slime Rancher 2, so you’ll need to spot it for any Slime that has Nectar listed as their favorite food, which is currently just Flutter Slime. We have a handy Slime Diets page where you can quickly check out all of the Slimes’ preferred diets and favorite foods.
You can only find Moondew Nectar at night in the southeast area of Starlight Strand, starting right on the border between the northern and southern areas of the island. If you have the full map, this is the pink area to the southeast.
We were able to find Radiant Ore and build a Jetpack to float down the cliff blocking the northern and southern areas to be able to access where Moondew Nectar is, but there may be other ways around it if you’re going to explore, but we recommend getting the Jetpack for a quick climb .
Use the Jetpack to gain quick access to the southern area of Starlight Strand.
When you reach the southern area of Starlight Strand, keep an eye out for two things when searching for Moondew Nectar:
- Round, blue resources on the ground
- Lilac flowers growing high
To get Moondew Nectar, you need to collect those round, blue resources on the ground, which drop from the lilac flowers growing high above, but remember that you can only find and collect Moondew Nectar at night. Slime Rancher 2 seems to classify between 8 pm and 6 am as night time.

You can spend the morning or night sleeping at home, but keep in mind that it takes a while to travel to Starlight Strand, which could reduce your Moondew Nectar farming time.
Lastly, Moondew Nectar will not appear if you look directly at the area it is supposed to appear in. If you’ve returned to an area where you normally grow nectar and it’s not there, walk around the area and then come back to see if it has appeared yet.
How much Moondew Nectar does it take to blow up Gordo Flutter in Slime Rancher 2?
You need to feed Gordo Flutter Slimes x15 Moondew Nectar or x30 other types of nectar to explode it in Slime Rancher 2. The same is true for all other Gordo Slimes, except instead of Nectar, you need to feed the other types of Gordo with your favorites. Diet or favorite food.
So a Fat Tabby Slime, for example, would explode after feeding it x15 Stony Hen, or x30 other types of meat. This number appears to be reduced from the x50 food resources needed to pop most Slimes in the first game, but additional updates could add Gordo Slimes that require more food to pop.

Everything we know about Flutter Slimes in Slime Rancher 2
Flutter Slimes are new to Slime Rancher 2, along with the Cotton, Angler, Batty, and Ringtail Slime variants.
As you know, Moondew Nectar is Flutter Slime’s favorite food, so feeding it to it will double the amount of Flutter Plorts it produces when fed. If new types of nectar are added to the sequel, you will also be able to give it to Flutter Slimes, but this means they will only produce one Flutter Plort at a time.
Their Slimepedia entry describes Flutter Slimes as ‘a shining example of natural beauty in an already beautiful world‘that when fed with Moondew Nectar’will reward you with the calming aura they produce after eating it that reduces all the agitation of the nearby slime.‘. Quite useful if there are a lot of hostile Slimes wandering around an area.
The downside to Flutter Slimes is that those pretty wings they have mean they like to fly… a lot. Keeping them confined to your greenhouse ranch isn’t really going to work, but since nectar is their preferred food and nothing grows there, at least they won’t steal any food from other Slimes in the area.
