How to get Greavard in Pokémon Go

Greavard made his first appearance in Pokémon Go on Thursday, October 19, 2023 as part of the Halloween 2023 event.

Here’s how you can catch Greavard during the Halloween 2023 event:

  • Halloween Timed Research Mission: Encounter with Greavard rewarded for completing steps 1, 2, and 3 of the mission
  • In three-star raids: until Thursday, October 26 at 10 am (local time)
  • Event-exclusive Field Research Task: Thursday, October 26 at 10 am (local time) to Tuesday, October 31 at 8 pm (local time)

In our opinion, the easiest way to catch a Greavard during the Halloween 2023 event is through the Halloween Timed Research, as this quest is available throughout the event.

If you prefer to catch Greavard in raids or through field research tasks, please note that Greavard raids will only take place during Halloween Part 1 (until Thursday, October 26 at 10 a.m. local time), while the field research task will be launched during Part 2, which starts automatically when Part 1 ends.

If you prefer to catch Greavard through a raid, then it is important to consider whether you will be able to defeat him in a three-star raid alone. While players who have taken the time to power up Pokémon that can counter Greavard up to level 35 should be able to achieve this easily, if you’re a newcomer or haven’t maxed out your Pokémon, then it’ll be up to you to try. failure.

If you fall into the latter category but still want to fight Greavard in a raid, we recommend teaming up with other players. This can be through a local Pokémon Go group, your friends, or using a Remote Raid Pass in combination with an app like Poke Genie.

Note that even if you defeat Greavard, he will flee if you run out of Premier Balls, and if this happens, you will have to successfully defeat the ghost dog in another raid. However, we have included some recommendations against Greavard later in this guide to help you out.

When it comes to catching Greavard through the event-exclusive Field Research tasks during Halloween Part 2, always remember that you must find these tasks first. This can be a challenge as the tasks assigned by PokéStops change daily and you can still receive seasonal Field Research tasks during the Halloween 2023 event. If this is your preferred method, we recommend joining a local PokéStops group. Pokémon Go, since it is possible that someone has already found the PokéStop you are looking for.

We highly recommend taking the time to catch at least one Greavard during the 2023 Halloween event because, as of this writing, we don’t know what the Greavard spawn rate will be after the event ends, especially since it’s primarily available at through raids. There’s a chance that, like other recently released Pokémon, Greavard will be difficult to find once the event ends, so it’s worth adding it to your Pokédex when you get the chance.

When catching Greavard during the 2023 Halloween event, always make sure to get a nice, excellent, or excellent drop as he will reward you with additional candy. Add a regular or silver pineapple berry to the mix and you’ll earn a good amount of candy for each Greavard you catch.

You can earn additional Greavard candy by using Rare Candy (although you may want to save it for a rarer Pokémon) and have one as a friend, so you can passively collect candy just by playing Pokémon Go.

Greavard Counters in Pokémon Go

Below you will find Greavard’s counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go:

  • Greavard Type – Ghost
  • Greavard is weak against Dark and Ghost types.
  • Greavard Counters: for Dark-type Pokémon, Tyranitar, Weavile, Darkrai, Hydreigon, Yveltal, and Guzzlord. For Ghost-type Pokémon, Gengar, Banette, Candelure, Origin Giratina, Trevenant and Confined Hoopa.
  • Other Greavard Notes: We highly recommend using Dark-type Pokémon when fighting Greavard, because it will have an advantage over any Ghost-type you use due to it being a Ghost-type itself. While Pokémon like Origin Giratina can still deal excellent damage, keep in mind that it may not survive long against Greavard because of this.
