Research tasks in Pokémon Legends: Arceus explained

To complete a Pokédex entry in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you must complete enough research tasks for that species of Pokémon until you reach research level 10.

A complete Pokédex entry.

Each Pokémon has a dedicated research task list and these tasks can be anything from how many you have captured, witnessing specific moves in battle, or evolving them. Certain Pokémon also have research tasks tied to requests, such as investigating whether Drifloon really plays with children.

Some research tasks have multiple stages, allowing you to increase the research level of an entry by repeating the same activity. A common example of this is the ‘Caught Number’ task which, for some Pokémon, can increase your research level by at least five times.

You can check a Pokémon’s research tasks by visiting its page in your Pokédex and pressing Down. This shows a list of all your associated tasks and your progress with them. A Pokémon’s research tasks can also be accessed by focusing on it in the wild and pressing Down.

Your current research level for this Pokémon can also be found at the bottom of its entry.

During the Pokédex Progress Report at the end of each survey, you’ll review which Pokédex entries you’ve updated or completed, along with how many research tasks you’ve completed.

Our Pokémon Legends Arceus walkthrough will help you choose a starter Pokémon and win the Kleavor boss fight. You are also tasked with filling Hisui’s Pokédex by obtaining new evolutions such as Kleavor by evolving into Scyther, Wyrdeer by evolving into Stantler, Sneasler by evolving into Hisui Sneasel, and Overquil by evolving into Hisui Qwilfish. There are a ton of new evolution methods, including some for Eevee evolutions. Take the time to complete Requests too, like The Sea’s Legend, Wurmple’s Evolved! and find Wisp locations. Don’t forget to track all Unown locations as well.

How to earn Pokémon research points in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Research Points are earned by completing research tasks and complete Pokédex entries in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In turn, these points are used to increase your star rank within the Galaxy Expedition team.

Your Pokémon research points are counted during the Pokédex progress check, which occurs when you finish a survey in the wild. Here you will learn how many points you earned during the survey and how close you are to reaching the next star rank.

The front of your Pokédex also tracks how many Pokémon research points you’ve earned so far and includes a progress bar for your next star rank.
