How to delete an Outpost in Starfield

How to delete an Outpost in Starfield

Taking out an outpost in Starfield is pretty simple once you know how to do it, and the fact that taking one out actually puts materials into your pockets instead of taking them away is also a big plus. Sometimes it’s easier to start from scratch than to continually throw materials at an outpost that you know doesn’t work for you.

After spending a lot of time building an outpost on your chosen planet in Starfield, it may seem a little counterproductive to remove it again, especially since it can take a while to get everything in place. However, you can delete an outpost for free so you can start over or try to build a new outpost somewhere new.

When you want to get rid of one, we’re here to show you how to delete an outpost in Starfield.

How to remove an outpost in Starfield

To delete an outpost in Starfield, you must be at the site of the outpost you want to delete.

We also recommend saving a file just before deleting it, as going back to a previous save is the only way to recover an outpost once you delete it.

Once you’re ready, follow these steps to delete an outpost in Starfield:

  1. Find your Outpost Beacon and walk towards it.
  2. Interact with Beacon to bring up a small text box panel.
  3. At the bottom of this text box you should see the “Rename” option next to a control message.
  4. Below this, in faded text, there should also be a “Delete” option.
  5. Hold down the indicated command to eliminate your outpost. You will need to confirm that you want to do this, but once you do, the outpost will be removed.

It’s worth knowing that when you eliminate an outpost, you will be refunded the full construction cost. So, if you are running out of materials or have found a better location for the outpost, removing the unwanted ones is the way to go.
