The Fortnite Hunter’s Cloak is a new item introduced in Season 6.
It is available by participating in two of the season’s new systems: hunting wildlife and crafting.
Crafting a Hunter’s Cloak is also one of the first challenges of the season, so figuring out how to do it is not only a useful introduction to those systems, but also a way to get some XP gains.

Please note that this particular challenge can no longer be completed. What’s new? Chapter 4 Season 2 has arrived! Fortnite Hunter Cloak: How do you create a Hunter Cloak in Fortnite?
To obtain a Hunter Cloak, you must create one by collecting these items during a match:
- Animal bones x 2 (crafting ingredient)
- Meat x1 (inventory item)
To craft in Fortnite, go to your inventory (press Up on the D-Pad), then go to the crafting tab.
Hunt a boar and craft a hunter’s cape in Fortnite.
From here, you can choose to “upgrade” any of the items you have in your inventory using components you’ve collected during that match to things like Primal weapons.
To get animal meat and bones, you must hunt wildlife. Creatures appear in a variety of locations on the map; There’s no specific location you can reliably go to, as far as we know. For example, we found a wild boar wandering near Weeping Woods, and that gave us enough resources from a single kill to be able to create a hunter’s cloak.
Whatever animals you find, collect the meat and animal bones that fall. Meat in particular is an item you can equip, and you can upgrade it with animal bones in the crafting menu.
Select the Meat in the crafting menu, choose to craft it, and the Hunter’s Cloak will be yours.

Once equipped and ‘used’, it should protect you from any aggressive animals that come your way, such as wolves, one of the new wildlife additions to the Season 6 map, and is a requirement for taming others, such as birds of prey.
