Equipping the backpack and collecting fuel cells around the Command Cavern is one of the final Resistance challenges in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2.
You’ll first need to activate an emergency beacon at Titled Towers or Coney Crossroads before unlocking this second challenge of Week 11, one of the last before the Collision live event that marks the end of this Fortnite season.
After finding the fuel cells and returning the backpack, you will complete this challenge and earn 23,000 XP, which will help you earn the final rewards for this season’s Battle Pass.

Fortnite Fuel Cell Locations
Before searching for fuel cell locations, you must first establish a device uplink near Seven Outpost near Command Cavern or Seven Outpost near Logjam Lumberyard.

It is best to do this at Seven Outpost next to Command Cavern, as it is closer to many Command Cavern fuel cells and easy to return to.
After establishing the device uplink near the Command Cavern, go and equip the backpack. It’s next to two blue barrels near the wooden fence on the west side of the river.

After equipping the backpack, follow the nearby river east until you reach the underground entrance to Command Cavern.
There are many fuel cell locations in and around Command Cavern, but you only need to collect two fuel cells, and most locations contain two. Below we highlight some of the easiest locations to find Fuel Cells in Command Cavern.
You will find the first fuel cell immediately to the right of the underground river entrance, next to a table.
The second fuel cell location is directly east of the first, on a small slope, overlooking the water. The two fuel cells are located next to two stacks of containers.
For the third fuel cell location, head to the north side of Command Cavern. You’ll find two fuel cells next to two stacks of containers near the water. In front of the fuel cells you can see a fishing barrel and a portable refrigerator.
The easily located fourth and final fuel cell is on the east side of the Command cavern, next to the large circular area filled with containers (and usually some IO guards). Look for the small containers in front of a forklift to spot these last two fuel cells.

Where to return the backpack to Seven Outpost in Fortnite
Once you’ve collected two fuel cells, you must return the backpack to the Seven Outpost near Logjam Lumberyard or the outpost near Command Cavern, before it loses more than half of its fuel.
It’s easier and quicker to return the backpack to The Seven Outpost via Command Cavern, as you can take the boat (or swim) back along the river you entered Command Cavern.
To return the backpack, return to the two barrels next to the wooden fence, west of the river, and hold the required button when you are close enough to complete the 23k XP quest.
