The Fortnite helicopter has returned in Chapter 3 Season 2.
Like the X-4 Stormwing, the Choppa offers the fastest way to get around the map, as long as you know the locations of the helicopters, of course.
Below you will find all of Choppa’s current locations in Fortnite this season. All helicopters have now been unlocked!

Where is the Choppa in Fortnite? How to find a helicopter explained
All five Choppas have now been fully funded in Fortnite, meaning that if you want to take to the sky, there are five different locations you can visit to find one.
It is important to note that other players can take the helicopter, so there is a chance that you will miss the opportunity to fly one in a match. However, if this happens, you may find it elsewhere during the match, as long as it hasn’t been destroyed, of course.
Helicopters are also not guaranteed to spawn, meaning that a helicopter may not be in its set location simply because it is not present in your current match. If this happens, visit another helicopter location to see if there is one waiting for you there or simply visit this location again in another match to see if one appears.
Fortnite Helicopter Locations
There are five helicopter locations in Fortnite:
- Seven outposts northwest of Logjam Lumberyard
- Seven outposts west of Command Cavern
- Seven outposts southwest of Greasy Grove
- Seven outposts southeast of Chonker’s Speedway
- Seven outposts northeast of The Daily Bugle

There are seven other outposts on the map, but only these five locations can contain a Choppa. All helicopters have now been fully funded, but it’s worth noting that, like other vehicles, helicopters are not guaranteed to appear.
Logjam Lumberyard Helicopter Location
This Choppa can be found next to the gray circular platform northwest of Logjam Lumberyard, behind the Seven Outpost buildings near the edge of the mountainside.
Command Cavern Helicopter Location
Head west of Command Cavern and head to the Seven Outpost in the middle bend on the north side of the river. The helicopter has just passed the gray circular platform.
Greasy Grove Helicopter Location
To find this Choppa, go to the Seven Outpost, just after the burnt craters found southwest of Greasy Grove. The vehicle is parked on the grass between two trees, near the area’s gray circular platform.
Chonker’s Speedway Helicopter Location
To find this Choppa, visit Seven Outpost east of Chonker’s Speedway and directly south of Condo Canyon. Once there you will find the helicopter on top of a rock near one of the buildings.
The location of the Daily Bugle helicopter
This Choppa can be found on the western outskirts of Seven Outpost northeast of The Daily Bugle. If you’re having trouble locating this helicopter, head to the path that leads north to the nearby beach; If the Choppa is in this game, it will be located along this path.

What else do you need to know about the helicopter in Fortnite?
Once you’ve found a helicopter, although flying is self-explanatory (the controls will appear on the screen), you should know that the height is controlled independently, allowing you to go up and down vertically without moving. Very useful!
Other things you should know about the helicopter in Fortnite at a glance:
- It can hold up to five players in total: four in the back and one driving.
- Although players ride in the back and look and shoot from the sides, the helicopter itself has no weapons. This means that in solo modes, the helicopter can only be used to traverse the map.
- That said, the rotors can catch on buildings and destroy trees, so watch you fly!
- The Choppa requires fuel, so if you want to take a long flight, be sure to bring gas cans.
- In a nod to Apocalypse Now, you can use a speaker while flying to play Ride of the Valkyries.
- You can keep the helicopter floating in the air once you take off. Just be careful of other players shooting!
- If you jump from the Choppa, there will be no parachute, so only do so at low altitude or by diving directly into the water.
