How to start missing a sign in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To start the Absence of a Signal quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must have completed the story quest ‘Uninvited Guests’ in Chapter 10 in Cosmo Canyon.

After completing this story mission and returning to the settlement, use one of Bugenhagen’s assistants to fast travel to the Planetary Assembly.

When you’re here, talk to Ceasar by the telescope on the balcony to begin the mission.

He’ll task you with going to three different locations around Cosmo Canyon to take pictures that match the ones he gave you in his notes. Ideally, you’ll want to have 80 percent accurate photos, but Ceasar will take any photo if you’re struggling.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Absence of a sign Celestial phenomena location one

The hardest part of this photo is getting to its location, so let’s tackle this one first. You can find the area you need to go to marked on the map below:

However, to reach this area, you must have your Cosmo Canyon Chocobo and head to Gliding Range No.6, which is southeast of your target location.

Once there, jump and glide to the wooden landing platform right in front of you.

Once you’ve landed, follow the path to the right until you reach the Gliding Range No.7 launch area. Here, jump and glide again to the wooden landing platform directly in front of you, this time using the fans to keep your Chocobo in the air.

Once you land, look to your right. You should see some small wooden steps leading up to a rock.

Go up these steps and jump onto the rock. You should then see a wooden path around the outside of the inner rock formation, follow it to reach the Gliding Range No.13 launch area.

Here again, glide to the landing pad in front of you using the fans to keep your Chocobo in the air. Once you’ve crossed the gap, you should find that the Gliding Range No.14 launch area is to your left. Use it to glide to the next area opposite the launch ramp.

When you land, follow the path here past the first launch ramp on your right and past Blustercave Lifespring (although you can do this if you want). Follow this path up and up until you reach the Gliding Range launch ramp. No.16.

Here you should be able to see a Remnawave Tower in front of you. This is where you want to go. Then again, use the fans to glide into this area.

When you get to this area make sure you are at ground level. Now, from the Remnawave Tower, follow the ground-level path to the right (check your map to make sure you’re heading towards the Celestial Phenomena location). You will encounter some enemies, but you can use your Chocobo to get past them.

Eventually, you will reach the base of a very tall rock formation, passing an anvil in the ruins. To your right you should see a slight ramp made of rocks and a fan.

All you need to do now is use this fan to propel your Chocobo into the air and you will land in the right place!

Of course there are enemies waiting for you. Specifically, a Skeeskee and a large Reapertail. The Skeeskee is more of a nuisance than a threat, but we recommend taking it out first so you can then focus your energy on the Reapertail.

Use ice attacks of any type on Reapertail to pressure him. We recommend using a combination of spells and abilities with this elemental effect as much as you can to raise the gauge. Eventually you’ll be able to stagger him and then hit him with Cloud’s Punisher Mode attacks to really hurt him.

Once you get past Reapertail and Skeeskee, you can start looking for the perfect angle for your photo. To save you some time, we found that the best place to go is to stand next to a small bush with twigs near the entrance to the area facing northwest. You should end up with a small patch of cactus directly in front of you at the edge of the area. like in the image below:

The image you are trying to match from your notes is number two. You can press left on your directional pad at any time to check your position.

When you’re ready, press up on the directional pad to bring up the camera. You may have to get closer and move slightly to get the right angle. You’ll know if you’re close by monitoring the accuracy percentage at the bottom of the scope:

Once you’re happy with its accuracy and photography, confirm you want to use it and you’ll have found the celestial phenomenon: Moogle.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Absence of a sign showing a photograph of Aerith

When you take out your camera to take your second photo in this mission, you will have the opportunity to take a photo of Aerith. You just have to make sure you sync it correctly!

For 100 percent accuracy when taking a photo of Aerith, wait until the viewfinder turns green to take the photo. This happens when Aerith begins to make a wish while she looks at the constellation she faces.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Absence of a Sign Photo Location Two

To reach the second photo location, head to Gliding Range No.4 and follow the path southwest past the Regional Phenomena, Expedition Intel, and Fiend Intel sites. They are all situated in ruins, so continue following the dirt path past them and you will eventually reach a large platform where the Reapertail is hard to miss.

If you’re not sure you’re going in the right direction, the dirt path should take you past some tall columns:

Like you did before, take out the enemies in this area and then you can start finding the right position for this shot.

We found that the easiest place to stand is slightly southwest of where Aerith is located. Plant Cloud directly in front of another twig bush here. The photo you are trying to match is number three in your notes.

Press up on the directional pad to raise the camera and aim the viewfinder so that it is above the bridge and aligned with the end of the largest rock formation jutting out to the left. You may have to zoom in a little to get the correct accuracy percentage:

When you are happy with this photo and confirm that you want to use it, you will have found the celestial phenomenon: Bahamut.

One photograph left!

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Absence of a sign photograph location three

Your final target location is next to the Cosmo Canyon landing strip:

To reach this area, return to Cosmo Canyon Air Strip on a fast travel. As soon as it appears, look to your left and you should see a path leading up against the cliff face.

Follow this path and it will take you directly to the final area. Once again, there’s a Reapertail here, but you’ve already taken out two, so you know what you’re doing!

Once you’ve defeated this Reapertail, move Cloud around the area so that his head and the handle of his sword are slightly below the bottom left star of the constellation, like in the image below:

From here, take out your camera and point it so that the center is just above the end of the sloping rock formation, like in the image below. Again, you may have to tweak the zoom a bit to get anything above 80 percent.

After taking the photo, you will have found the celestial phenomenon: Chocobo.
