In Final Fantasy 15, Gil, the franchise’s form of currency, returns, and despite Noctis being a royal, he doesn’t make it easily.
Sooner or later you will have to start earning some money – healing items are not cheap and on top of that you also have to keep the car fueled, traveling fast costs money, renting Chocobos is a regular expense and unless you want to eat dry toast at camp, occasionally you will need to buy something to eat.
Fortunately, there are a number of reliable sources of income that you can always rely on to help you during your adventure.
Once you’re done, you might also find interesting ways to get quick EXP and AP.

Final Fantasy 15 Gil – How to get more money easily
Hunts – Perhaps the most reliable and lucrative form of income is Hunts. Aside from the early easy hunts, these award rewards in the thousands or, as you reach higher levels, regularly in the six figures. Remember that hunts can be done by speaking to any chef you encounter, and the more difficult the objective, the greater the rewards. Of course, they are also a useful source of additional items, a good source of EXP and AP.
Sell treasures: Money doesn’t grow on trees, but it can be found in the ground. As you explore, you’ll find all sorts of random details scattered around. Some of them will be useful, but many of the things you find will give you no practical benefit and can be sold to any merchant around the world (or even remotely through Regalia).
Common items like chunks of rusted metal will net you a handful of Gil, but some can be worth several thousand, so it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled and poking the beaten path as you explore. Fishing and gathering ingredients in the wild can also be easily sold. There are some treasures you need for certain side quests, such as Cid’s weapon upgrades, but they are few and, most importantly, can’t be missed, so you can always go out and collect more easily.
As you upgrade your equipment, find better accessories, and generally acquire more tools, don’t forget to sell unused items too – that bracelet that was a huge asset when you started will be practically trash later on, so when something has stopped working be useful, just get rid of it.
Monster Drops: On a similar note, monsters will drop random loot when killed, and upgrading Gladio’s survival skills can increase the frequency and value of drops. Sometimes they’ll drop you something you can sell, other times they’ll drop you something that saves you from having to buy one, but either way the overall effect is more money in your pocket.
Side Quests: Most side quests give you some Gil for participating, but as with EXP, some are more lucrative than others. These are some of the most profitable quest lines:
- Holly’s questline (from Chapter 8 of Lestallum) is fairly simple and offers good rewards, with three quests giving out rewards of 2,500, 5,000, and 10,000 Gil each.
- Broken down cars (worldwide) often offer four-digit rewards. Keep an eye out for anyone on the side of the road and be sure to bring some repair kits (sold at Hammerhead) to help.
- Monster rescues (worldwide), as noted above, also provide four-digit rewards and are worth seeking out whenever you explore on foot. Keep a stock of potions and other consumables on hand so you can complete these quests.
- Vyv’s photo missions (starting in Lestallum and before you have to leave for the Tomb in Chapter 3) are quite lucrative, with rewards of four to five figures of Gil per completed mission.
- Obtain each map piece from Scraps of Mystery and you can sell the Mythril Ingot treasure for 20,000 Gil.
- Taking down Adamantoise grants you 50,000 EXP and 50,000 Gil as a reward for the marathon battle.
Totomostro: When you reach Altissia, you can go to a coliseum where you will get medals in monster battles. Medals cost 10 Gil each, and by earning and increasing the number of medals you earn, you can exchange 2500 medals for a Great Garula Fang, which can sell for 1700 Gil, a pretty decent return at high numbers. If you’re serious about the minigame, invest in a horn so you can boost your team’s stats and help them win.
