Grasswither Shrine contains Wo-Chien, one of the Ruinous Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
However, before you can catch Wo-Chien, you must find and pull the eight purple stakes found in Paldea.

Purple Bet Locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The Grasswither Shrine stakes have an eerie purple glow, and after drawing all eight, you can battle Wo-Chien in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These stakes are located in part of the Eastern Province and eastern sections of the Southern Province of Paldea.
We recommend unlocking all of Koraidon/Miraidon’s abilities before attempting this side quest. You can try to search for what’s at stake after defeating the Open Sky Titan and the False Dragon Titan for their swimming and climbing abilities, but traversing Paldea is much easier with all the mount upgrades.
If you want to learn about the myth surrounding the shrines and place them on your world map, complete the history lessons at the Academy. However, taking these lessons is not a requirement to do what is at stake.
Below you will find the eight purple bet locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
Location of Purple Stake 1
The easiest way to find this bet is to fly to Mesagoza (East Gate); If you accidentally fly into the Pokémon Center, simply leave town through the east gate.
Once there, head directly northeast and climb the rocks until you find the stake. It’s roughly in the middle of this area north of the highway.
Purple Stake 2 Location
Like Stake 1, the easiest way to find this stake is to fly to Mesagoza (East Gate). From there you can see the stake if you look south, towards Los Platos.
Use the stone bridge to reach the stake.
To reach it, cross the stone gate that closes the gap between the Southern Province (Area Three) and (Area Five). Now all you have to do is jump to the ledge below.
Purple Stake 3 Location
This stake is located at the top of the mountain in the Southern Province (Area Five).
If you just found Stake 2, you can easily get to it by going up the mountain from your current location. Otherwise, it can be found by going northwest from the Southern Province Pokémon Center (Area Five), heading northeast from Los Platos, or going south from the Southern Province Pokémon Center (Area Three) and crossing the land bridge. .
Purple Stake 4 Location
This stake is located on top of a hill northeast of the Los Platos Pokémon Center.
You can find it quickly by going up this hill and following its edge north until you find the stake.
Go up this hill and then follow it north to find the stake.
Purple Stake 5 Location
This stake is located on the top of the mountain directly south of Los Platos in the Southern Province (Area One), in the terrain surrounding the pool from which the waterfall flows.
Purple Stake 6 Location
This is the most difficult Grasswither Stake to find because it is located on the northern border between the Southern Province (Area Three) and the Eastern Province (Area One).
One way to find it is to fly to the Southern Province Watchtower (Area Three) and then head north, across the gap to the green field. There you will want to head west along the edge of the cliff until you find the stake. If you don’t, go back and head east. You probably missed it!
It can also be found flying to the Southern Province Pokémon Center (Area Three) and the Eastern Province Pokémon Center (Area Two), before heading to the northern edge of the gorge. Once again, you’ll want to engage in this cliffhanger until you find what’s at stake.
Purple Stake 7 Location
You can find this stake on the brown hill directly south of the Artazon Pokémon Center (West).

This final stake can be found on the cliff directly above the Grasswither Shrine in the Southern Province (Area One).
As you pull the last stake, a roar will be heard from the shrine signaling the awakening of Wo-Chien. Before finding it, however, we recommend stocking up on Ultra Balls and healing items like Max Potions.

Grasswither Shrine Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Grasswither Shrine is located in the Southern Province (Area One) in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Its exact location is to the east and almost parallel to the Poco Path Lighthouse.
Where to find Grasswither Shrine.
By completing history lessons at the Academy and following Raifort’s story, shrines will be located on your world map. This will also allow you to quickly travel to them.
The quickest way to reach the shrine by road is to fly to the Poco Path Lighthouse and then follow the coast east until you see the shrine embedded in a hillside.

How to catch Wo-Chien in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Wo-Chien is a level 60 Dark and Grass-type Pokémon.
This means it is weak against Bug, Fairy, Fire, Fighting, Flying, Ice, and Poison types. Psychic-type moves will have no effect on Wo-Chien.
It’s a good idea to stock up on Ultra Balls and healing items, such as Max Potions, before attempting to catch Wo-Chien.
We recommend starting the battle with a Pokémon that has an advantage over Wo-Chien and is at a similar level. This will ensure that you can reduce his health to that all-important bright red section without having to take him out completely.
However, you’ll want to keep an eye out for Wo-Chien’s Giga Drain, because this attack allows this Pokémon to heal itself.
For this reason, it’s a good idea to switch to Pokémon with moves that are less effective against Wo-Chien once you’ve reached the red section of the health bar. This will allow you to carefully lower the health bar if necessary after Wo-Chien heals himself.
Dark, Electric, Ghost, Grass, Ground, and Water types are ideal for this task. Moves like Bite also work well, as they can make Wo-Chien flinch, and doing so prevents him from attacking.
Paralyzing or putting Wo-Chien to sleep will also help you catch this Pokémon. Just avoid poisoning it!
Fighting type attacks are super effective against Wo-Chien.
You may also want to switch to a Pokémon that takes little damage from Wo-Chien’s attacks, so you can focus on throwing Ultra Balls.
We quickly caught Wo-Chien with an Ultra Ball, but you may find a Timer Ball more useful if your battle has lasted a considerable amount of time. The effectiveness of this Poké Ball is tied to the number of turns spent in a battle, so a longer fight equals a strong Timer Ball.
Wo-Chien has the Tablets of Ruin ability, which reduces the attack stats of all Pokémon except itself.
