How to prepare for Draconic Tree Sentinel
Preparing for Draconic Tree Sentinel is a matter of choosing your poison, literally. We found that both bleed-based damage and poison damage work quite well against the intimidating boss, and one or the other, or even both, are perfectly viable options.
Additionally, a powerful melee weapon is recommended for the Draconic Tree Sentinel. A shield is practically useless in this fight, as dodging will be your best friend to get out of sticky situations.
Therefore, we recommend bringing a powerful two-handed weapon into the fight, as this will give you a better chance of staggering the enemy.
In terms of armor, you need to strike a balance between physical defense and lightning defense.
We do not recommend using fireproof armor because the boss’s fire attacks are the easiest to dodge, and it is the lightning attacks during his second phase that you will have to be most careful about.
Draconic Tree Sentinel Tips: How to Beat Draconic Tree Sentinel
In the first phase of the Draconic Tree Sentinel, it will deal heavy physical damage to you through powerful blows. The boss will lunge at you from the top of his horse, slamming his hammer into the ground and following closely with a slam attack.
Make sure to time your dodge roll just before the first hit to the ground to avoid it completely, and then prepare to dodge again when the boss returns for the next hit.
Draconic Tree Sentinel’s horse can actually breathe fire, because of course it can. The boss will stand still when you’re a certain distance away and his horse will send a fireball crawling towards you, which is actually pretty easy to dodge if you attack from the side.
Alternatively, if you stand in front of the Draconic Tree Sentinel for too long, the horse will breathe a steady stream of fire into the ground, and if you see the horse backing up on its hind legs, start running backwards immediately.
You’ll know you’ve entered the second phase of the Draconic Tree Sentinel fight when the boss holds his massive hammer high, with red lightning ringing around him.
Welcome to the second phase of the fight, where each physical attack from the boss’s hammer now comes with an additional area of effect in the form of lightning.
It used to be important to dodge well, but now it’s even more important, as one wrong move can spell disaster even for a tough veteran.
The Draconic Tree Sentinel will periodically stand still during this phase and hold its hammer up, and you will begin to see sparks emitted across the battlefield. These are signs of where the lightning will strike about two seconds from now, so you’ll need to quickly move away from any area where the sparks are.
You may even want to turn off boss lock during this phase, as it’s arguably more important to be aware of your surroundings.
