Doom Eternal Rune locations: Where to find all Runes for permanent perks

The Doom Eternal Runes will be of great help in your task of eliminating these demonic legions.

They return from Doom 2016, but this time they work a little differently. For one thing, you don’t need to complete trials to get a specific permanent benefit. Instead, you’ll find them in the initial missions and can select from nine perks each time.

This page explains how Runes work, the perks they unlock, and most importantly, where to find Rune locations. Let’s go rune hunting!

List of Doom Eternal Rune Perks and How They Work

In Doom Eternal, up to 3 perks can be activated simultaneously, and while the list seems pretty short, there are dozens of combinations to experiment with.

The fact that they can get it from the start is a huge advantage and you no longer have to worry about making a one-time test for a specific skill.

Just choose the one you think will be most useful and then feel free to mix them up.

The benefits you can obtain by finding runes are the following:

  • Savagery: Perform Glory Kills faster.
  • Search and Destroy: Launch a Glory Kill from much further away.
  • Full of Blood: Gain a speed boost after performing a Glory Kill.
  • Air Control: Greatly increases your movement control while in the air.
  • Dazed and Confused: Increases the time enemies remain in a stunned state.
  • Saving Throw: Survive a fatal blow and briefly slow down time, giving you a chance to recover. This Rune recharges upon death.
  • Chrono Strike: Press and hold the secondary fire button in mid-air to temporarily slow down time. Once the Rune is completely depleted, you will have to wait for it to recharge.
  • Team Demon: Enemies killed by the team or while under the team’s influence will decrease the cooldown.
  • Punch and Reave: Enemies killed by a Blood Punch shockwave lose health.

Doom Eternal Rune Locations List

Where to find the nine Rune locations in Doom Eternal, depending on the levels they are in? Note: Some levels have more than one Rune to find, so keep your eyes peeled!

Exultia (1 rune location)

As you progress through the level, you will find yourself falling onto a ring-shaped platform. This first rune is really simple, as it is marked by the quest marker.

Feel free to choose the skill that best suits you, although Saving Throw is our personal recommendation if you’re having a hard time fighting demons.

Cultist Base (1 Rune Location)

After finishing one of the main arenas, you will come across a tower, along with some platforms hanging in the air. To obtain this Rune, you will have to press a lever marked with a green symbol.

This will give you a short period of time to use a bar, turn around, grab the bar again to reach the other side, and secure yourself to a wall.

Once you’re there, don’t worry about the time left for the lever, just look back with the camera and use your double jump and dash to reach the Rune.

Doom Hunter Base (1 rune location)

Follow the trail after getting the ‘Deag Ranak’ codex entry, which is located after the main arena by following the spaceship-like structure, and grab the second Rune on the circle-shaped platform.

Super Gore Nest (2 rune locations)

In the inner area with the huge meat structure in the center, head to one of the edges of the map and use the bounce pad to get a new Rune.

As you make your way towards the destroyed buildings, and just after passing through that horrible section with the lava pools, you will find a new Rune for your assassin.

Bow Complex (2 Rune Locations)

Just before you drop into a new arena, deviate down the right path that is set on fire and grab the Rune at the end.

At one point in the mission you will be near an underground arena simply by following the mission marker. Before you go full throttle to add more demons to your long agenda, make sure you get another Rune buff there.

Mars Core (2 rune locations)

This is an easy Rune to learn, as you will find it by simply following the main quest.

Once you’re done using the terminal while heading towards the Ion Catapult, be sure to get another permanent Rune buff there.
