How to get to level 31 without buying The Dark Below

The first thing to note is that everyone who plays Destiny can now reach level 31, whether they purchase The Dark Below or not. The key is the new legendary armor (purple) sold in the Tower. Bungie got rid of old stock from Vanguard, Crucible, and Faction vendors and replaced it with new legendary items that have a higher potential light level. The old equipment could only emit 27 lights. New material reaches level 33. To reach level 31, you need a total of 132 lights. Conveniently, four pieces of the new armor will give you that, because 33×4=132. (Who needs Brain Training, huh?)

If you already own a lot of Vanguard and Crucible brands and have gone up to suppliers enough, you can probably buy some things right away. Vanguard, Crucible and Faction vendors (New Monarchy, Future War Cult and Dead Orbit) sell new gauntlets, chest and leg armor for 75 marks each if you are rank 2, while helmets cost 120 marks and require rank 3 and a commendation. We’ll get to the praise in a second.

Tower vendors now offer armor that can deliver 33 lights when fully upgraded. This material is available to everyone, even if you didn’t purchase The Dark Below.

If you are missing marks, you will have to grind them before you can buy things. A good way to earn Vanguard Marks is to hold public events using Destinypublicevents.com; Successfully completed Public Events will reward you with four Vanguard Marks, and you’ll earn another two (plus an ascendant material) for your first event of the day. The other way is to participate in Vanguard Strike playlists, which consistently reward Marks. It’s also worth completing the new Dark Below story content so you can unlock Will of Crota Strike, which offers up to 20 Vanguard Marks the first time you finish it.

For Crucible Marks, you just need to play a lot of Crucible. Remember to accept the daily playlist promoted on the navigation screen for a slight boost.

When you have four pieces of the new legendary armor, all you need to do is level them up to the maximum. It will take time to get the necessary amount of XP, not to mention the planetary and ascendant materials needed to take them down, but if you’ve made it this far then you’re no doubt used to the Destiny grind by now. Welcome to more of this! Don’t forget to finish Nightfall to get that week-long XP boost.

How to get a Vanguard, Crucible, or Faction Commendation

In some cases, all you need to purchase the new equipment are Vanguard and Crucible Marks and a sufficient ranking with the respective supplier. However, for some pieces, you’ll also need a commendation, which is awarded the next time you cross a rating threshold for that vendor. For example, if you are at rank 4 with Vanguard vendors, when you reach rank 5 you will receive a commendation from Vanguard. This will satisfy one of the criteria needed to purchase the new top-of-the-line Vanguard helmet for its class.

To increase your Vanguard rating and earn that commendation, equip a class-neutral item (a Titan Mark, Hunter’s Cloak, or Warlock Bond not allied to a faction) and do things that earn you a lot of XP. Completing daily PVE rewards is a good way to go because they offer decent windfalls every time you redeem them with Xander, while high-level events like daily and weekly events also award large amounts of XP. You’ll also be able to earn some XP by completing Patrol missions, although you’ll need to do a lot to gain a lot of ground.

Earning a commendation may take a while if you have already reached high levels with each of the vendors, but it is a prerequisite for purchasing the helmets.

Increasing your rank in the Crucible follows the same principles: gain XP in the Crucible without using faction-specific class items. Crucible rewards will be useful here, as will completing the daily playlist. To increase your ranking with the New Monarchy, Future War Cult, and Dead Orbit factions, you must first purchase a class item from them in the Tower in exchange for some Glimmer, then equip it and complete activities that will reward you with unexpected XP gains. It doesn’t matter if you do this in PVE or PVP, because the XP will automatically accumulate with the faction whose item you are using.

You can check your ranking progress by visiting one of the relevant vendors or by checking the Advisors section of the Bungie.net website or the Destiny companion app. Once you reach the next rank (it doesn’t matter if you’re currently ranked 0 or 26), you should receive the corresponding commendation in a package delivered via the postmaster.

How to get to level 32 in Destiny

As with the original version of Destiny that launched in September 2014, the only way to reach the level cap is by obtaining Raid gear. (Bungie later changed this so that gear pieces awarded through the Iron Banner PvP event will also push you closer to the limit, and this will likely continue when the Iron Banner returns, but if the principles remain the same, you’ll still need the minus some Raid). gear.)

That means entering Crota’s End Raid in The Dark Below. As with Vault of Glass, you’ll need to form a team of six people and then work together to progress. New Raid gear can be obtained from loot chests and by reaching checkpoints in the new Raid, for example reaching the bridge beyond the initial section of the Abyss or defeating the Deathsinger. The new Raid gear offers 36 lights, four bundles of which will give you the 144 lights you need in total to reach level 32.

Bungie has said that the need for Raid gear will decrease a little more regularly, although it will presumably still take a long time to get a full set.

As with Vault of Glass, you are not guaranteed to receive Raid gear when playing Crota’s End; In theory, you are in the lap of the random number gods. However, Bungie has stated that he felt the drop rate in the Vault of Glass was not entirely fair to players and he wishes to make peace with Crota’s End. The game will now take note of when you last received an exciting Raid drop (a weapon or equipment) and will make sure that the interval between that and the next equally exciting drop is not too long.

And if you’ve managed to get three pieces but the fourth eludes you, the good news is that Xur, the weekend vendor who appears in the Tower from Friday to Sunday morning, is now selling a rotating cast of armor pieces exotic ones that can deliver 36 lights. He will also sell upgrade modules for your existing Exotic armor pieces in exchange for a Glimmer Pack and an Exotic Shard. However, as usual, you can’t predict or guarantee what Xur will sell, so he keeps signing you up.

Once you’ve obtained four pieces of equipment that can reach 36 lights, you’ll need to level them up to unlock their full potential. You do this in the standard way, but there is a new consideration: to reach the highest levels in your Raid equipment, you will need Radiant Shards, a new ascending material that can be obtained in Crota’s End or by purchasing it from Eris Morn. in the Tower, as long as you have ranked it enough.

Well, I guess you’ll just have to keep running Crota’s End. As if you needed another excuse…

Eris Morn is the main vendor and quest giver for The Dark Below. If you need Radiant Shards (and weapon energy), she can help you if you meet the relevant criteria.
