Destiny 2 World-Eater is a mystery quest that you can take on as you begin to delve deeper into the endgame that leads you to unlocking the Legend of Acrius exotic weapon.
You need a bit of luck to see it start, and part of unlocking it is completing Leviathan Raid, so I hope you had a team with you willing to help you along the way.
Destiny 2 World-Ender Mission Steps to Unlock the Legend of Acrius
Once you have the In Communications item, you can begin the Devourer of Worlds quest line. You can see this in your power weapon slot, telling you that:
- ‘Return to Nessus and recover the communication ciphers of the Red Legion troops’ (of 5)
To cover these ‘communication ciphers’, you need to kill Cabal, who will start dropping them randomly at a reasonably low drop rate. Any Cabal of any activity. ought grant you these items, but to be safe we stick with Nessus.
Where is the Red Legion on Nessus? In the southwest of the La Cisterna area. Wander around and you can find them outdoors, but if you’re stuck, try the only Lost Sector there, as well as the Emperor’s Invitation Adventure to also learn some interesting backstory for the Raid and its possible cast.
Once you have all five, the quest will update. Before the Leviathan Raid unlock, this was called the Wait for World Eater quest step, but is now called World Destroyer. Complete the Raid to complete it, which our Leviathan guide can help you with.
Blink and you’ll miss it, but the Eater of Worlds can be seen in one of the game’s early cutscenes.

Once you take down the final boss of the Raid, you will receive a new item, which will give you the End the Arms Dealer quest step:
- Complete Strike Quest: The Arms Dealer in EDZ.
Unlike other Strikes, this allows you to select the Strike from within the EDZ Patrol as part of the quest line. It has a recommended power level of 300 and comes with a time limit to make your life a little more difficult, but you can extend it by shooting blue anomaly orbs that appear during the attack, adding 30 seconds to your timer.

Once you’ve performed the Strike, it will update to Back to the Bazaar, where you’ll need to talk to Benedict 99-40, who will give you the Legend of Acrius weapon. Hurrah!
Although you have the weapon, there is still a lot to do. The quest is now upgraded to Cabal Killer, which must be performed with the newly received Legend of Acrius weapon.
- Objective 1: Eliminate Cabal (of 25)
- Objective 2: Eliminate Cabal at close range (out of 15)
- Objective 3: Eliminate multiple Cabal without reloading (out of 10)
In any part of the game and in any activity, you can complete the above, as long as it is with the Acrius weapon.
Next, you must complete His Highness’s Seal, which allows you to complete bosses in the Raid for Emperor Seals. Each completed one grants you a Seal and you need 10 in total.
Below is the final step of the mission to complete the Raid on Prestige difficulty. Doing so will earn you the ‘Emperor’s Pleasure’ exotic ornament for Legend of Acrius. Here is a video of K1LL SW1TCH 64 showing it in action:

In short, it’s an Arc Exotic shotgun with the Shock Blast perk that provides a good dose of Arc damage, and the last of the four Exotic weapon quests found in Destiny 2, unless Bungie has hidden more that will be revealed in the days and weeks to come.
This isn’t the first exotic weapon tied to raid progress. In Destiny’s second major expansion, Rise of Iron, Outbreak Prime featured multiple steps that involved completing the Raid to unlock it, and it looks like Destiny 2 is doing something similar.
Locking an exotic weapon behind an endgame activity is arguably a little unfair to those players who can’t or don’t want to play it, but it also gives those who want to replay the Raid something extra to unlock.
