The Guardian Games, one of the great traditions of the solar system, have returned in Destiny 2.
This competition pits Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks against each other to see which group can deposit the most medallions and claim their spot as this year’s best class in Destiny 2. There are unique weapons and cosmetics to earn, plus a special title .
This is a limited-time event, running from Tuesday, May 2 to Tuesday, May 23, so anyone who wants to participate best get started as soon as possible.

How to get started in Guardian Games with the Best in Class quest
Generally, any special event in Destiny 2 begins with a visit to Eva Levante in the Tower, and the Guardian Games are no exception. It will be in the middle of the main courtyard, near the large carpeted stairs.
Once you talk to Eva, she will offer you the Best in Class quest. The steps for this search are:
- Use the Glimmer that Eva gave you to pick up a card.
- Earn medallions by completing activities with your class item equipped! Complete a Supremacy match or Guardian Games playlist activity to earn your first medallion!
- Talk to Eva Levante in the tower courtyard.
- Place your medallion on the Guardian Games podium in the Tower Courtyard.
- Claim your first event challenge, which you can access in the Mission tab.
- Talk to Zavala in the Tower Courtyard.
- Talk to Shaxx in the Tower.
- Return to Eva in the Tower.
This quest line serves as a basic tutorial for the Guardian Games and, at the end, grants Taraxippos, a scout rifle exclusive to the Games.

How to earn and deposit medals in Guardian Games in Destiny 2
There are two main methods of earning medallions. First, you can complete activities while wearing a Guardian Games class item. Eva Levante offers a special Guardian Games themed version of the Hunter Cloak, Warlock Bond, and Titan Mark. Complete activities while wearing one of these medals.
The second option is to purchase and complete Eva Levante’s Contender and Platinum cards. These work like rewards and offer random targets from specific types of activities. Completing the objective and collecting the card will award a Gold (for Contender Cards) or Platinum (for Platinum Cards) medallion.
How to Complete the Timed Shoot to Score and Compete for Supremacy Missions in Destiny 2
There are two special quest lines available during the Guardian Games; one focuses on Guardian Games-themed Vanguard activities and the other on Supremacy matches. These are awarded during your visits to Zavala and Lord Shaxx as part of the Best in Class quest. Both missions have a time limit, only part of each can be completed at first, and more steps are unlocked each week during the Guardian Games.
Lord Shaxx takes you to the Vying for Supremacy Quest. The steps for week 1 (steps 1-5) are:
- Earn a bronze score in this week’s Job in Supremacy matches. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Bronze Scoring Torch will be unlocked in the Tower.
- Earn a Silver score in this week’s activity in Supremacy games. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Silver Scoring Torch in the Tower will be unlocked.
- Earn a gold score in this week’s Job in Supremacy matches. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Gold Score Torch will be unlocked in the Tower.
- Earn a Platinum rating for this week’s activity in Supremacy matches. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Platinum Scoring Torch will be unlocked in the Tower.
- You’ve reached Platinum! Keep earning more points for glory and wait until the next weekly break for new rewards.
Zavala proposes the Shoot to Score mission. The steps for week 1 (steps 1-5) are:
- Get a bronze score in this week’s Guardian Games Job: Competitive Playlist. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Bronze Scoring Torch will be unlocked in the Tower.
- Earn a silver score in this week’s Guardian Games Job: Competitive Playlist. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Silver Scoring Torch will be unlocked in the Tower.
- Earn a gold score in this week’s Guardian Games activity: Competitive Playlist. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Gold Scoring Torch in the Tower will be unlocked.
- Earn a Platinum score in this week’s Guardian Games activity: Competitive Playlist. Once you reach the Bronze threshold, the Platinum Scoring Torch in the Tower will be unlocked.
- You have reached the pinnacle of Guardian Games achievements! Continue earning high scores to prove yourself and wait until the next weekly reset for a new Operation Vanguard.
For both missions, more steps will be unlocked during upcoming weekly resets.
How to Earn the Champion Title for Guardian Games in Destiny 2
The Champ is a Destiny 2 title that is obtained exclusively with the Guardian Games Challenge Card. There are a total of 17 challenges to complete to unlock the title of Champion.
The challenges of the Guardian Games event are:
- In it to earn it: Earn a medallion by completing activities and store it on the Tower podium for rewards and class points!
- Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum: Store medallions on the Tower podium to contribute points toward your class ranking! Higher-ranked medallions bring more points (these are four separate challenges, each requiring a higher point total to complete)
- On the cards: Full and Platinum Contender cards, which can be obtained from Eva.
- Talented Scout: Defeat targets with scout rifles.
- Pull some strings: defeat the target or help your teammates with damage and Strand abilities.
- Good Games: Defeat objectives in Supremacy matches or Guardian Games playlists.
- Class Pride: Complete the Supremacy or Guardian Games playlist activities with special matchmaking.
- Friendly Rivalry: Complete Crucible, Gambit, or Supremacy matches.
- Ready for the Challenge: Complete Guardian Games’ Nightfalls Operations.
- Shield Collector – Earn points in Supremacy by collecting shields from defeated opponents.
- Classy Arsenal: Eliminate targets with weapons from G Guardian Games.
- Cloudrunning: Complete activities on Neptune.
- Circuit Training – Complete Dares of Eternity, Vanguard Ops playlist activities, or Defiant Battlegrounds.
- Champion: Complete all the challenges of the Guardian Games 2023 event.
Once you have unlocked the Champion title, you can equip it from the Journey tab of the character screen.
