Destiny 2 Grasp of Avarice dungeon guide, walkthrough and secret chest locations

From there you need to start the Gjallarhorn quest and blow up the wolves. To do this, you must complete a round of the Dares of the Eternity event (which will begin the first time you start the game after purchasing the DLC) and then talk to Xur, where you can continue the quest on the second page.

Once you have spoken to Shaw Han at the Cosmodrome, you will be able to access the dungeon, either from the Cosmodrome map or from your directory.

The dungeon has a recommended power level of 1310 to play.

Destiny 2 Walkthrough: Grasp of Greed

The dungeon will take you between one and two hours, so we recommend finding friends or other players online to form a complete team. During the initial phase, you must kill enemies until they start dropping loot-like orbs.

Once you have obtained at least one, you will be granted a status with a timer. The task here is to collect as many as possible and then enter the ‘loot cave’ from where the enemies appear. You will find a crystal inside; Approach him to deposit the orbs.

Repeat this a few more times until the enemies stop appearing. Then the floor inside the cave will collapse and you can descend into the dungeon.

Get ready for some platforming and an army of enemies waiting for you. Also, keep an eye out for pressure plates located on the ground, as they will trigger traps.

There are two particular areas that stand out from the rest before reaching the first boss, and both involve the use of switches. The first will allow you to activate switches within rooms to open specific ones and move on. It involves a bit of trial and error, but you can watch a tutorial below if you’d like additional help (skip to the 10:07 timestamp):

The second section is much simpler, since you only need to activate all the switches in no specific order. After a few more minutes you will encounter the first boss. This will remind us of the initial phase of the dungeon, since we will again have to collect orbs and take them to the crystal. Once this is done, you will be able to deal damage. Rinse and repeat until you take down the boss.

I hope you have your Sparrow ready for the next section (make sure you have one with at least 160 speed!). To do this, you’ll have to make a quick getaway while activating a couple of nodes along the way. It can be a bit difficult as it requires a quick response from you, so be careful not to hit any obstacles to avoid losing time.

The next section is about the second boss of the dungeon. The process here is always the same: head to one of the islands in the area that has a Servitor floating around, kill enemies to collect orbs and deposit them in the crystal, and then destroy the Servitor once you have enough.

After this happens, you will have a timer set where you will have to manually roll the huge ball towards one of the launchers. Once it’s placed, you’ll need to grab a Scorch Cannon from one of the Scorch Vandals. This is used to power up terminals that are always close to the launchers. After a few seconds they will explode and activate said launcher. Then, the ball will fly towards the boss and hit his weak points.

It is more demanding in terms of time than complicated in the mechanical sense. The obstacle comes with the fact that you also have to launch yourself and your squad to move around the area. Fortunately, there is no specific order to follow; just be sure to look for islands that have a Server, as that will serve as a pointer to a location you haven’t visited yet, from where you can attack the boss (the orange boss). ‘orbs’ around it indicate whether you have already damaged that side or not).

If you found this boring, you’ll be surprised that the last boss involves a similar process, although thankfully it’s much simpler. You’ll have to use the Scorch Cannons again to destroy the pillars on either side of the area, which will drop the orbs you’ve gotten so close to during the dungeon.

Once you have them, you know what to do: deposit them on the crystal until the boss loses its shield (you will notice this when the boss teleports to the center of the arena again) and attack with all your strength.

That’s all for the dungeon! The following steps are quite a bit of back and forth, but while they are easy to follow, you can speed things up a bit during one of the tasks.

Once this is done, you can continue with the Gjallarhorn quest. Of course, you can complete the dungeon again for more loot…

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You can also know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the rotation schedule for the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenges!

Capturing Greed Secret Chest Locations

There are two secret chests to find inside the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. Both will give you extra rolls of gear you’ve already unlocked, similar to how secret chests work in raids. (This means that if you have not yet completed the first encounter, you will not receive any equipment.)

First secret chest location

When you are first introduced to the Scorch Cannon mechanic, you will be in a cylindrical room with numbers on the walls. Just after the number four there will be a column between the inner and outer areas.

Here, on the outside, there is a chest on a ledge against the column.

Second secret chest location

Once you’ve completed the Sparrow section and deactivated the final ‘D’ mine, you’ll be in the hollowed skull. Don’t go any further into the dungeon yet. You’ll want to climb up to the left “eye” of the skull where you’ll find the chest. Use the glass ledges on the left to help you reach it.
