Destiny 2 Astral Alignment is the seasonal activity for Season of the Lost, taking place between August 2021 and February 2022.
Set in the Dreaming City, this six-player co-op event will allow you to revisit Blind Well and go through several different stages to eliminate Xivu Arath’s forces.
While the lack of motes to collect is a nice change from previous activities, unfortunately some bugs appear at launch, with the Astral Alignment activity not working sometimes.

How Destiny 2 Astral Alignment works
The Astral Alignment event is a six-player cooperative event divided into four phases:
- Crush intruders in the Blind Well
- Collapse of the cracks taken
- Avoid ether collection or install batteries
- Defeat the Tomado boss
Essentially, it will play out the same every time except for the third stage, which will be one or two possible activities. It’s these two that happen to be the most buggy for players at launch.
If you load the encounter and do not start from the Blind Pit and the Crush the Trespassers stage, then you have loaded into a bugged encounter that is already in progress, in which case you must exit and begin matchmaking. (Or, if you can, wait until the restart on August 25th for the more buggy activity of the two to be disabled, or even longer until there is a full fix. Prevent Ether Harvest Error Explained
In our experience, if you encounter Prevent the Ether Harvest, you will most likely have to restart your game at some point. Although you can play through about three-quarters of the event, enemies and objectives will stop spawning and you’ll have no choice but to exit and start over.
(We recommend leaving as soon as possible, as the longer players are in the buggy activity, the more likely it is that there will be new players joining and sitting with you as well.)

This is particularly frustrating if you’re trying to advance the Wayfinder’s Voyage quest, and our only real answer here is to keep trying until you get a (successful) Install Batteries run or wait until Bungie has issued a fix. .
Speaking of which, Bungie has publicly acknowledged an issue and will be disabling it at the daily reset (6:00 pm UK / 10:00 am PDT) on August 25; Until then, you should avoid destroying all the Ether locks.

Install batteries error explained
The Install Batteries error is a little different than Ether Harvest.
The goal is to carry heavy batteries and deposit them at the top of a hill, taking a break or passing them to another team member along the way.
However, these batteries may not spawn, or may be knocked off the edge of the map by nearby enemies, meaning you can’t charge them, fill the gauge, and move on to the next step.
As with Ether Harvest, if there are any errors, you will need to exit and reload the activity to try again. In our experience, we’ve had more “success” with Install Batteries than Ether Harvest, so if that’s the route you’re given, fingers crossed you’ll make it to the boss encounter.
Again, it’s a matter of waiting for a full fix if you want to play it safe, but until then, kirbyislove on reddit also recommended against trying to dip two batteries into a hole at the same time, which is apparently similar to a glitch I’ve seen. from a previous season. This can be hard to avoid if you’re matching with random players you can’t coordinate with, but it’s something to keep in mind if you can.
If you succeed, after the next stage of the Wayfinder’s Voyage quest you will be able to pick up Tracing the Stars from HELM, which allows you to find Atlas Skew locations.
