How to get Hardstone Shards and Large Hardstone Shards in Demon’s Souls
For ‘normal’ Hardstone Shards and Large Hardstone Shards, the easiest location is Filthy Man at the start of the Stonefang Tunnel.
He will sell both for souls, and all you need to do is bring the appropriate amount of souls to purchase them.
The weapons that upgrade with these two types of Hardstone are not the best when scaling to stats, but these weapons can be imbued with Magic and are, frankly, the easiest to upgrade to +10. For something more powerful, you should look at Chunk of Hardstone and Pure Hardstone.
How to get a piece of hard stone in Demon’s Souls
For the hard stone chunk, you can get it from the crystal lizards near the Phalanx, Tower Knight, Penetrator, and Armor Spider stone arches, respectively.
In case you can’t get hard stone chunks from the Crystal Lizards, you can also get them from the miners in the Stonefang Tunnel or near the Armor Spider Archstone.
This may take a while as the drop rate is quite relentless. After that, you’ll just need to get a piece of Pure Hardstone, which is easier than it sounds.
How to get pure hard stone in Demon’s Souls
From the Armor Spider Archstone, head to the Crystal Lizard’s nest. Kill all the lizards, which also gives you a chance to drop Pure Hardstone, and then you can find a piece of Pure Hardstone in this area.
If you’re having trouble killing all the Crystal Lizards in time, we recommend equipping the Thief’s Ring and using the Fire Storm spell, which will deal massive damage and usually kill the Crystal Lizards in the process.
