Control - A Captive Audience mission, X-Ray Lightbox puzzle explained to unlock the Seize power

A Captive Audience is a side quest in Control and unlocks the brilliant supernatural power Seize.

Seize is an incredibly useful power, because it allows you to take control of your enemies and have them fight alongside you. This could turn the tide of a particularly difficult battle or simply allow you to sit back and watch the fight.

To learn the Seize skill, you need to head to the Parapsychology department in the Research Sector and take a look at some of their old reports.

How to Start A Captive Audience in Control

To start A Captive Audience, you need to find the Research and Records – Reports – Astronaut Information collectible.

You can find this collectible during the Old Boy’s Club quest or by fast traveling to the Parapsychology department.

Astronaut information can be found in a cabinet in the small office to the right of the Parapsychology department checkpoint.

Once you’ve found the report, you can bring in a captive audience.

Investigate the power object in control of the X-ray light box

A captive audience takes place in the hypnosis laboratory, which is part of the research sector.

The quickest way to get to the Hypnosis Lab is to fast travel through the Checkpoints to the Parapsychology department. From there, all you have to do is go through the doors of the Hypnosis Laboratory, which are located on the right side of the Parapsychology department.

Find a way to enter the room to link the X-ray lightbox in Control

When you enter the Hypnosis Laboratory you will find a group of completely normal Office employees… except for the fact that they are paralyzed by the Power Object.

Here is a chest hidden in the alcove on the right of this room.

Chilling.

When you’re ready, go through the double doors on your right to further explore the Hypnosis Lab.

You will find yourself in a small space with some computers. Interacting with one will bring up a similar looking puzzle to the one you had to complete to enter the HRA Lab.

If you haven’t visited the HRA Lab yet, complete this puzzle by moving the square around the diamond shape.

Each time you move the square, it will add or remove a line to the diamond shape to create a pattern. The puzzle is solved when you create the correct pattern.

The solution to this puzzle can be found taped to the glass wall in the space in front of the computer monitors. You can see it in the background when you look at the computer monitor.

(Apparently, employees at this super-secret organization don’t remember their passwords well. At least no one left a laptop on a train.)

The solution to the puzzle is in the white circle!

Once you have completed the puzzle, go through the now open door next to the Power Object. Go through that room and clear the Power Object.

Complete the Harness the Power tutorial in Control.

What a surprise! We are back on the Astral Plane. This time it is to learn how to use the power of Harness.

Go down the stairs to the main area and you will see a golden enemy. Golden enemies are immune to your attacks, so you must find another way to defeat them.

When the golden enemy shoots at you, gray enemies will appear that you can hurt.

Knock these enemies down to low health and, when prompted, use the Seize ability to take control of them. They will now fight alongside you and kill the golden enemy. Just make sure you don’t accidentally kill them!

Once the golden enemy is dead, the familiar line of floating cubes will appear, allowing you to exit the Astral Plane.

Use the Exploit power to take control of your enemies.

Now you can go and experiment with your new Seize power!
