Borderlands 3 Bloody Harvest Halloween event: How to search the galaxy for a ghost, Bloody Harvest rewards explained

Bloody Harvest is Borderlands 3’s seasonal Halloween event.

Take your favorite Vault Hunter to the terrifying kingdom of Heck to battle undead enemies and the skeletal Captain Haunt.

If you manage to survive, you will be rewarded. Maybe you’ll receive a new Vault Hunter skin or even a legendary shotgun.

Bloody Harvest is a free event and will run from late October to early December.

What to do in Borderlands 3’s Bloody Harvest event, including ‘search the galaxy for a ghost’

Throughout the Bloody Harvest event, you will be able to encounter haunted enemies throughout the Borderlands 3 galaxy.

All haunted enemies will have a glow that will allow you to spot them quickly. But be careful: Haunted enemies have the ability to inflict the Terror debuff on you, which will affect your aim by clouding your vision.

This is what you’re looking for as part of the initial step of the “find a ghost in the galaxy” quest.

Killing haunted enemies will reward you with a new substance called Hecktoplasma. Doing so will update your quest objective, requiring you to obtain 25 of these to continue the quest line.

Take this Hecktoplasma to Shrine III, where you will find Maurice, a very talkative Saurain. Maurice will offer you a repeatable quest to complete throughout Bloody Harvest.

Using the Hecktoplasma, Maurice will be able to open a portal to Heck.

In Heck you can fight waves of undead Maliwan soldiers. It turns out that the people you kill don’t always stay dead…

These zombies are supported by a host of Rakk-o’-Lanterns (killing pumpkins) and Ratch, who have clearly been reading James Herbert’s The Rats.

If you can survive these enemies and reach the heart of Heck, you will be able to fight Captain Haunt.

Different types of ghosts for Bloody Harvest explained

There are three different types of ghosts you can hunt during Bloody Harvest. Ghosts can haunt both human enemies and the “friendly” wildlife of the Borderlands solar system.

Normal ghosts can appear on any enemy and glow green. Once you’ve killed its host, this ghost will transform into a green skull and fly towards you.

If you don’t kill a Green Ghost in time, it will disappear or infect you with the Terror debuff.

A normal ghost that inhabits a human ship and in its true form.

Tough enemies can be haunted by tough ghosts, who give their victims a red glow. These ghosts appear as red skulls and will attack you with various fire attacks until you destroy them.

Finally, if you’re lucky, you may encounter a Loot Ghost. These ghosts give chasing enemies a golden glow and appear as a golden skull. This skull will start flying away from you, so be sure to chase it, because it will drop some big loot.

All the ghosts will also drop a Hecktoplasma, which you need to collect for Maurice.
