Pilot level and XP in Anthem play a central role in your overall progression through the grind, even into the endgame to a certain extent.

Anthem Pilot Level system explained: What is the maximum level and how does the level system work?
Your pilot level in Anthem is your character level. It’s the standard idea of a leveling system: you level up by earning XP, until you reach the level cap, and there are certain things you can do to get XP faster, and of course certain reasons why you’ll want to do it.
Anthem’s maximum level cap is 30, for your pilot level (although, to be clear, this is not to be confused with your gear score, which is a completely separate thing) and when you finish the main story you’ll probably be somewhere in the around 20, depending on the difficulty you played on and how much work you did outside of the story’s main critical path.
Why is the pilot level important and what impact does it have?
Your Pilot Level is important because it is closely related to your Gear Score, and the combination of Pilot Level and Gear Score is how the game manages your progression, controls levels, and alters difficulty and reward.
That’s a bit abstract. More specifically, the biggest impact of your pilot level is on three things: what difficulty levels are available to you; what tier rewards are unlocked (see the section below for our list of them) and perhaps most importantly, what rarity and quality of loot is available to you as you play.
We cover the ins and outs of loot on our page dedicated to Anthem Gear and the loot system, but the key thing you need to know about the impact of your pilot level is what loot rarity will be available and when. Here’s a quick summary of that:
- Pilot level 1 – 9: up to rare loot (green)
- Pilot level 10 – 19: up to rare loot (blue)
- Pilot level 20 – 29: up to epic loot (purple)
- Pilot Level 30+: Up to Masterwork (Orange) loot, which has a chance for Masterworks to drop as top-tier Legendary (Yellow) loot. A small number of Masterwork weapons will also begin to appear starting at level 25.
How does the pilot level affect difficulty and gameplay in Anthem?
As for difficulty (capital D), for most of the game the only difficulties available will be Easy, Normal, or Hard. Once you reach the level 30 cap, Grandmaster 1, Grandmaster 2, and Grandmaster 3 difficulties will be unlocked.
Playing on a higher difficulty means higher quality loot and higher XP as a reward for success, but what’s interesting is how it interacts with your pilot level and other factors to affect the game’s actual difficulty. feel at different levels of difficulty.
In short, how easy or difficult the game feels depends on several things: your driver level, your team score (how good your team is), and the actual difficulty setting. Pilot level and difficulty settings affect the health and damage of enemies, while your equipment score does not affect enemies’ stats, it only makes them feel Easier or more difficult because you have better or worse equipment equipped.
So if you kept two of those things the same (say, playing on Normal and keeping your equipment score at 100, for example), as your pilot level increases, the health and damage of enemies will also increase and you’ll feel more difficult. if you don’t upgrade your equipment as you go. If your Pilot Level and Equipment Score remain the same, changing the difficulty setting from Normal to Hard will increase your health and damage to make it appear more difficult. The thing is, at the maximum pilot level, the enemies will obviously stop scaling, but your loot won’t, so for a more difficult challenge you should increase the difficulty to the Grandmaster levels that you will have unlocked by reaching that level limit. level 30. A higher difficulty setting will give you better equipment, so you can increase the difficulty again, get better equipment, re-level it, etc. It’s a bit of a chicken and egg: if you don’t want to play on higher Grandmaster difficulty levels, with no other endgame content before Cataclysms hits the game, there’s not much reason to keep playing and grinding. Anthem Tier Rewards List
As you progress from level 1 to the maximum level 30, you will unlock various rewards, such as new javelins and equipment slots. How to Earn XP and Level Up Quickly in Anthem
As with many grind-based shooters and RPGs like Anthem, leveling up as quickly as possible is an art for those interested in reaching the endgame as quickly as possible.
A lot of things give you XP in Anthem; Generally, going out into the world from the center of Fort Tarsis and killing bad guys, regardless of proficiency level, will give you some XP, but the best ways to increase the rate at which you get it are as follows.
How to Earn XP and Level Up Quickly in Anthem
- Increase Difficulty: A simple one, as we mentioned above. The higher difficulty you play missions on, the higher the XP rewards for completing them.
- Focus on ‘Feats’ during quests: When you’re playing a quest, it’s understandable that it’s easy to get caught up in playing it as usual, but if you want to max out your level quickly, you need to focus on Feats. These are the achievements you earned, such as precision kills, melee kills, harvested plants, etc., during a single mission. The more (and better level) you get during a mission, the more XP you will get. You can see your progress if you are on a mission in the Tracking tab of the map menu.
- Play with other people: Playing with other people gives you more XP at the end of a mission; The more there are in your group, the better.
- Use Quickplay: Similarly, Quickplay gives you both extra XP. and Extra loot at the end for completing the mission. It throws you into a random mission in progress that has a free slot, but be warned, it’s been quite buggy upon release so it’s not as reliable as it could be yet.
- Embrace Strengths: It’s actually a combination of all of these tips. The ultimate combination for getting a lot of XP in one go is to get lots of feats, while playing with others in Quickplay, for a Stronghold mission. The only problem is that those Quickplay games are random missions, so as far as we know, it’s luck whether you enter a Quickplay Stronghold or not!
Finally, it’s worth quickly pointing out that Alliance XP is a bit different: you don’t get XP from the Alliance System, but rather the XP you get does account for it. In short, any XP you earn will be equal to Alliance XP, which goes towards your Alliance level.
