A new batch of Animal Crossing fences comes to the game with update 2.0.
In addition to serving as decorative elements, they provide a wealth of options for structuring the exterior surrounding your home and beyond. They’re a great tool for creating paths around your island, and with the new options introduced in the update, it’s easier to mix and match or create entirely new styles.

How to Unlock New Fences and Custom Fences in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Once you have downloaded the 2.0 update on your Nintendo Switch, you must visit the Nook Stop at City Hall and then redeem Nook Miles.
Then you’ll want to find the ‘Custom billboards in a snap’ option. Buy this for 2,500 Nook Miles and you’ll instantly unlock the ability to customize fences.
Not only that, but you’ll immediately have two new types of craft fences available: park fences and large lattice fences.
As for the other types of new fences, they can be purchased for Nook Miles when they are in rotation (two random fences are on sale at the Nook Stop daily) or require DIY recipes and/or seasonal events.
For example, the Frozen fence will be part of the Snowflake set and the Bamboo fence will be part of the Bamboo set.
However, with the arrival of Kapp’n tours, you now don’t have to wait until that time of year to access them, as the seasons can change with each visit, giving you the opportunity to get a homemade recipe of a seasonal set. just remember to check the beaches for a DIY bottle every time.

If you were looking to add more flavor to the front yards or paths around your island, there are a total of nine new fence types to mix and match.
The complete list of fences, as well as their appearance in the game, is as follows:
- Park Fencing (unlocked with the purchase of ‘Custom Fencing in a Snap’)
- Large Lattice Fence (unlocked with the purchase of “Custom Fence in a Snap”)

How to customize fences in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
If you want to add another layer of personality to your fence, Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 2.0 lets you select different colors.
Fence customization works the same as any other element. Have some customization kits in your inventory, then find a DIY workbench and select “Customize something”, then select the fence from your inventory.
You’ll then have a range of colors to choose from, including several two-color options at your disposal.
Select the ones you need, then go out and build with your new creation!
