Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: Dr BR Ambedkar is considered an architect of the Constitution of India. His birth anniversary is celebrated on April 14 and he is also known as “Bhim Jayanti”. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
His first birthday was celebrated publicly in Pune in 1928 by one Janardan Sadashiv Ranapisay, an ‘Ambedkarite’ and social activist.

1. “On January 26, 1950 we are going to enter a life of contradictions. In politics we will have equality and in social and economic life we will have inequality. In politics we will be recognizing the principle of one man, one vote, and one vote, one value. In our social and economic life, due to our social and economic structure, we will continue to deny the principle that a man is a value. How long will we continue to live this life of contradictions? How long will we continue to deny equality in our social and economic life? economic?If we continue denying for a long time, we will only do so by endangering our political democracy. 2. Social democracy What does social democracy mean? It means a way of life that recognizes freedom, equality and fraternity as principles of life. These principles of liberty, equality and fraternity should not be treated as separate elements of a trinity. They form a trinity union in the sense that to divorce one from the other is to defeat the very purpose of democracy. Freedom cannot be divorced from equality, equality cannot be divorced from freedom. Nor can freedom and equality be divorced from fraternity. Without equality, freedom would produce the supremacy of a few over the majority. Equality without freedom would end individual initiative. Without brotherhood, freedom would produce the supremacy of a few over the majority. Without brotherhood, freedom and equality could not become the natural course of things. A police officer would be needed to enforce them. We must start by acknowledging the fact that there is a complete absence of two things in Indian society. One of them is equality. On the social level, we have in India a society based on the principle of gradual inequality: we have a society in which there are some who have immense wealth versus many who live in abject poverty.
3. “Why does a human body die? The reason is that as long as the human body is not free from suffering, the mind cannot be happy. If a man lacks enthusiasm, his body or his mind is in a deceased condition. …Now, what is it that saps man’s enthusiasm? If there is no enthusiasm, life becomes monotonous, a mere burden to drag. Nothing can be achieved if there is no enthusiasm. The main reason for this lack of enthusiasm on the part of a man is that an individual loses hope of having a chance to rise. When one breathes an atmosphere in which he is sure of obtaining the legitimate reward for his work, only then does one feel enriched by enthusiasm and inspiration.”
