Zelda DLC 1 – Travel Medallion location and the EX Teleportation Rumors quest explained

The EX Teleportation Rumors quest is one of many new quests added as part of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack.

Playing it will take you to the location of the Travel Medallion, an item that allows you to quickly travel to any location you choose.

In addition to what’s below, we’ve got a guide to Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1: The Master Trials, with help on the Korok Mask location and treasure locations for the Majora’s Mask, Tingle, Phantom, and Midna outfits. .

Or, if you’re looking for help with the main game, check out our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide.

How to start the EX teleportation rumor quest

Head to the East Akalla Stable (it’s just northwest of Akkala Tower, or a short distance east of Eldin Tower, and if you’ve visited Ze Kasho Shrine, fast travel there to save time) and find the Super Rumor Mill V2 on the table inside.

Read it and you’ll discover that the medal is located in a treasure chest “beneath a labyrinth in northeastern Akalla.”

The area in question is the Labyrinth Island of Lomei, which is the square island at the northeast corner of the map, and directly north of the Akkala Ancient Technology Laboratory.

Complete the maze if you haven’t already (and if you have, fast travel to the Tu Ka’loh Shrine inside) and you’ll notice a hole in the ground in front of the Shrine with a gust of wind rising.

Travel Medallion Location

Before descending, we highly recommend that you equip high-level armor and a Guardian laser bounce shield, such as the Hyrule Shield, as you will encounter heavy resistance.

Head down, and when you open the chest in the middle of the area (which contains a Diamond Circlet, which is a helmet that reduced ancient enemy damage, if you want to equip it right now), several stationary Guardians will set their sights on you.

You can run forward (south) to where the EX chest is on the back wall, but expect to get trashed along the way.

Our recommendation is to fight them to make your life easier, and also collect some Ancient Materials.

Raise your shield and step back, and since the lasers need to be pointed at you at the same time, it should be possible to deflect several of them at once. (We discuss the timing of this on our page on how to easily beat Guardians.)

Whatever you do, open the chest and the Travel Medallion will be yours.

How to use the travel medallion

To use the Travel Medallion, open your inventory and go to Key Items at the bottom, and press the A button to place it in its location. It will then appear on the map so you can travel at any time.

As the game mentions, you can only use it in one place at a time. Although towards the end of your adventures your map will probably be full of fast travel points, we suspect you’ll find this useful for any material grinding points you may have.
