Due to the increase in malware and cyber attacks, India’s Ministry of Defense has announced that it will replace all of its Internet-connected computer systems with a new operating system (OS) known as Maya.
Earlier, like everyone else in the world, Indian Defense used the Microsoft operating system, but as the threat of cyber attacks grows around the world, it became necessary to improve security.
According to Statista’s April 2023 report, a data breach in March 2020 exposed 10 billion data records. This staggering figure is a matter of concern and this move by Indian defense will strengthen the security of the ministry’s computers.
This new move was reported by the Hindu Times and an official stated: “Maya has the interface and all the features like Windows and users won’t feel much of a difference when they transition to it. For starters, the direction is to install Maya on all Internet-connected computers in the South Block by August 15.”
What is the Maya operating system?
