The robot expressed its enthusiasm for the historic inauguration. OdishaTV expressed that Lisa would soon be the host of the channel. Lisa, as an AI news anchor, has the ability to speak a wide variety of languages. These include Odia, English and many more.
OTV took up the challenge of training the robot Lisa in Odia. He revealed that efforts are being made to further improve their proficiency. The goal is to work on your interactive skills.
OTV Managing Director Jagu Mangat Panday expressed immense excitement and joy over the introduction of the country’s first AI news reader bot saying, “The use of AI has just started in television broadcasting and for that reason , AI news anchor Lisa is ready.” to create many new milestones.
Lisa is the first AI presenter in regional free-to-air television broadcasting.
It is important to note that Lisa is not the only AI news reader in India. India Today, a Delhi-based news channel, has also introduced an AI news anchor whose name is ‘Sana’.

Well, these AI robots have a human appearance. This makes the audience connect with them easily. This also doesn’t break viewers’ habit of hearing everyday news from a human. Furthermore, as an AI presenter, both robots are capable of reading news in local languages fluently.
Are there AI-powered news anchors in other countries as well?
Yes. While India has just started introducing AI-powered news anchors, China has already explored the terrain. Xinhua, China’s news agency, started using AI-powered news anchors in 2018. The launch of ChatGPT has accelerated this idea.
