IPS Laxmi Singh appointed as the new Noida Police Chief

Here comes a big day for Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government recently appointed Laxmi Singh, an IPS officer, as Noida police chief. The woman is the first woman officer to head a police commissionerate in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

IPS officer Laxmi Singh is a 2000 batch officer. He has replaced Alok Singh in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The lady is expected to take over on Wednesday.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday issued a list of transfers and postings comprising a total of 16 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Uttar Pradesh. The names included the new commissioners of Prayagraj, Varanasi and Agra.

Currently, Uttar Pradesh has a total of 7 police commissionerates, according to a political structure created in the year 2020.

Alok Singh, on the other hand, is a 1995 batch IPS officer. Mr. Singh has been posted as additional director general of police (ADGP) in the DGP office in Lucknow.

Let’s know something about Mrs. Laxmi Singh.

The 48-year-old has successfully served as inspector general of police in Lucknow zone.

Laxmi Singh is a proud IPS officer with the distinction of being the first woman to hold the top IPS post. She secured 33rd rank overall in the super challenging exams conducted by UPSC.

Sources say that the lady was also considered to be the topper at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

Not to be missed is that Laxmi Singh has also been honored with the Prime Minister’s silver bastion and the Home Minister’s pistol during her training days.

Regarding her educational background, Laxmi Singh has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. The first position she was appointed to was Senior Superintendent of Police in 2004.

In the year 2013, Laxmi Singh was promoted as Deputy IG. Only five years later, in 2018, he was conferred the rank of IG.
