How to unlock the Welgun in Warzone and Vanguard
To unlock the Welgun in Warzone and Vanguard, you must get 10 ADS kills with an SMG in 10 different matches.
The quickest way to do this is to start Vanguard and play Free for All mode. You can finish a match in about five minutes, so depending on loading times, it will take you less than two hours to unlock.
If you don’t have Vanguard, you’ll need to play Plunder matches in Warzone to unlock Welgun.
Note that you must finish the match to earn credit, rather than quitting after getting 10 kills.
The best Warzone Welgun equipment and accessories
Here’s our recommended Welgun build, along with the levels needed to unlock each attachment:
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster (unlocks at level 29)
- Cannon: 120mm Short Gawain (unlocked at level 30)
- Optics: Slate Reflector (unlocked at level 18)
- Stock: Stock removed (unlocked at level 54)
- Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop (unlocked at level 68)
- Magazine: 9mm, 64 round magazines (unlocked at level 23)
- Ammo Type: Incendiary (unlocked at level 70)
- Rear Grip: Engraved Grip (unlocked at level 47)
- Proficiency: Frenzy (unlocked at level 63)
- Kit: Quick (Unlocked at level 36)
To start with the cannon, we recommend using the Recoil Booster, which increases the rate of fire, making it more effective up close.
For the barrel, equip the 120mm Gawain Short to further improve the rate of fire. It will penalize your range and accuracy, but later you will use a different accessory that will compensate for this.
With setups close to the midrange class, we almost always recommend the Slate Reflector optic and that rings true with this build.
After that, we strongly recommend using the removed material. This will improve your movement speed, sprint speed to fire, and ADS speed, perfect for a close range charge.
Follow up with the Hand Stop m1941 lower barrel to counter the effects of the 120mm Gawain Short, giving you better recoil control and accuracy.
For Warzone, it is best to use the largest magazine size possible if you are playing in trios or quads. In this case, 9mm 64 round magazines are excellent, giving you plenty of rounds and quick reloads. Of course, you can adjust it based on team size and game mode.
The incendiary ammo type is best for this particular build, as it allows you to deal additional flame damage over time. This could make or break a particular shooting, especially up close.
As for the rear grip, we highly recommend using the Taped Grip. You will have improved aiming stability and weapon switching speed when using it, counteracting some of the disadvantages of the other attachments.
When it comes to proficiency (or perk 1), you should use Frenzy, which grants you health regeneration after kills. If you are an aggressive player, this could get you out of a bind.
Finally, we recommend Quick for the kit (perk 2) to increase overall sprint speed. This will come in handy when running and gunning.

Best Warzone Welgun Class Build, Perks, and Gear
Here are the recommended equipment and perks to make the best Welgun class build in Warzone:
- Perk 1: Quick Fix (unlocks at level 42)
- Perk 2: Ghost (unlocks at level 24)
- Perk 3: Combat Scout (unlocks at level 1)
- Secondary: M1 Bazooka (unlocked at level 11)
- Lethal: Molotov Cocktail (unlocks at level 10)
- Tactical: Stun Grenades (unlocked at level 1)
For Welgun, we recommend using Quick Fix, which immediately starts health regeneration after a kill.
We also recommend using Ghost as a second buff so you don’t spawn during enemy UAVs or heartbeat sensors. Floor loot is usually viable this season, so there’s no need to waste a buff slot on Overkill.
For perk 3, it’s best to use Combat Scout so you can ping enemies when you deal damage to them, allowing you to easily shoot them through walls.
The Molotov Cocktail is the ultimate lethal equipment, dealing splash damage over time and a one-hit kill on direct impact.
For tactical gear, we recommend using stun grenades so you can temporarily stop an enemy in their tracks and sweep them away for easy elimination.
