Warzone best MP5 loadouts: Our MP5 class setup recommendations and how to unlock both MP5s explained

The MP5 is one of the deadliest melee weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone, and if one of them wasn’t enough, there are actually two basic variants of the weapon in the Battle Royale game: one from Black Ops: Cold War, the other modern war.

Warzone’s Verdansk map is obviously huge, which you’ll no doubt already know if you’ve spent any time wandering around the vast whereabouts of Ukraine. The MP5 is excellent at close range while assaulting buildings and all types of facilities.

The Modern Warfare variant has lost popularity over time, as developer Raven continues to move away from the game’s weapons and focus on Black Ops: Cold War. That said, there are people who still use it, so we will offer a loadout for both.

This page will cover how to unlock the MP5 in its two variants, and the best MP5 loadouts and MP5 class recommendations to get the most out of each weapon’s potential.

How to unlock Modern Warfare and Cold War MP5 in Warzone and which MP5 is the best

As we mentioned above, there are actually two variants of the MP5 in Call of Duty: Warzone.

One of these variants originates from Black Ops Cold War, while the other version is native to Warzone. Both weapons worked the same at first, but numerous adjustments and balances since launch have led us to prioritize the Cold War variant, which is the one we recommend using.

The Modern Warfare MP5 in Call of Duty: Warzone.

The native version of the Battle Royale game, and it’s been there since day one, unlocks at the incredibly low level 4, meaning you’ll unlock the standard version of the MP5 in no time.

The Black Ops Cold War version of the MP5, which was just added to Warzone in early December 2020, unlocks at the slightly higher level of 12, which is the weapon’s unlock level in Treyarch’s game.

Remember that you do not need to own a copy of Black Ops Cold War to have access to the specific weapon variant in Call of Duty: Warzone. So no matter which Call of Duty game you own, you’ll be able to unlock two versions of the MP5 in no time.

The best Modern Warfare MP5 equipment and accessories

Below are our recommendations for optimal Modern Warfare MP5 loading, as well as the corresponding levels for each:

  • Barrel: Monolithic Integral Suppressor (unlocks at level 36)
  • Stock: Foldable FTAC (unlocks at level 51)
  • Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip (unlocks at level 19)
  • Ammunition: 45 round magazines (unlocked at level 13)
  • Benefit: Sleight of Hand (unlocks at level 37)

Let’s start with the canyon. For this we chose the monolithic integral suppressor, which increases bullet velocity and, of course, adds sound suppression. It is compensated by a slight reduction in aiming down sight speed, but not by much.

The foldable FTAC is great for this build, as it increases both movement and ADS speed, which tend to be the target of the drawbacks in the accessories we’ve chosen. It affects recoil and aiming stability, but not much.

As for the lower barrel, we opted for the Merc Foregrip, which increases both recoil control and hipfire accuracy. As compensation, your ADS and movement speed when walking will be reduced.

As for ammo, we highly recommend increasing that of the Modern Warfare MP5. For this, the 45 Round Mags attachment will do the job well, although it comes at a cost in ADS and movement speed.

Lastly, going for Sleight of Hand is the best option for weapon perk as it will increase the reload speed when using it.

Best Modern Warfare MP5 Class Build, Perks, and Loadout

As for the best-class items, such as equipment and perks, that you should use to get the most out of the MP5.

  • Perk 1: Quick Fix (unlocks at level 42)
  • Perk 2: Overkill (unlocks at level 38)
  • Perk 3: Expanded (unlocks at level 1)
  • Secondary: C58 (unlocked by reaching Battle Pass level 31, including the free version)
  • Tactic: Stun Grenade (unlocked at level 1)
  • Lethal: Frag Grenade (unlocked at level 1)

Using this MP5 version, it won’t take you long to start defeating enemies, so starting health regeneration immediately after each battle with Quick Fix is a great combination. As usual, if level 42 sounds a little high, we recommend going for EOD as it will help mitigate damage from explosives and non-killstreak shots until you can unlock this perk.

As usual, we recommend going for Overkill as your second buff. As for our weapon of choice, the C58 is the perfect match. This assault rifle is excellent at long ranges and has overwhelming firepower.

If a target manages to sneak out of your C58 fray, don’t worry, as Amped will increase the speed of the switch to MP5.

As for equipment, we opted to use the Heartbeat Sensor ourselves. If you lose sight of a target or simply want to double-check the perimeter before entering a building, a quick glance at the sensor is a great strategy.

Lastly, we can’t recommend Proximity Mine enough; It deploys quickly and will always have your back, especially if you place it next to doorways or stairs. Stray fragmentation grenades only cause noise in the distance, but even if the mine fails, they will still serve as an alarm for enemies approaching your location.

The best MP5 equipment and accessories of the Cold War

Below are our recommendations for optimal Cold War MP5 loading, as well as the corresponding levels for each attachment:

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor (unlocks at level 46)
  • Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight (unlocks at level 40)
  • Stock: Raider Stock (unlocked at level 54)
  • Underbarrel: Bruiser Grip (unlocks at level 33)
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd Drum (unlocked at level 34)

Let’s start with the snout. For this we chose the Agency Suppressor, which increases bullet speed, vertical recoil control and effective damage range, in addition to adding sound suppression, of course. You trade them off with a hit to aim down sights, aiming speed, aiming steady while walking, and aiming stability, but these are all balanced in the overall build.

The Tiger Team Spotlight is a great laser for this build, as it improves both movement and walking speed, complementing the disadvantages of the snout. It has an impact on aiming stability, but not much.

As for the stock, we opted for the Raider Stock to improve sprint-to-fire time and both ADS firing motion and walking aiming motion speed. This affects the accuracy of hipfire, but since you’ll be using ADS most of the time and the cost isn’t that great either, it’s balanced.

While we previously recommended a rear grip, opting for the Bruiser Grip underbarrel attachment is the best option for this build at this time. This will improve both movement speed and aiming stability.

As for ammo, we highly recommend upgrading that of the Cold War MP5. For this, the STANAG 50 Rnd Drum accessory will do the job perfectly, although it comes at a cost in ADS speed and reload speed.

Warzone Season 5 is almost here! If you want to know more about the firepower of the above, we explain the best Welgun load, the best Cooper Carbine load, the best Gorenko anti-tank rifle load, the best STG44 load, the best MP40 load, the best automaton loadout, best BAR loadout, best combat shotgun loadout, best Type 100 loadout and best Kar98k loadouts.

Best Cold War MP5 Class Build, Perks, and Equipment

As for the best-class items, such as equipment and perks, that you should use to get the most out of the MP5.

  • Perk 1: Quick Fix (unlocks at level 42)
  • Perk 2: Overkill (unlocks at level 38)
  • Perk 3: Expanded (unlocks at level 1)
  • Secondary: Swiss K31 (unlocked by getting 2 headshots in 15 different completed matches using any sniper rifle)
  • Tactic: Stun Grenade (unlocked at level 1)
  • Lethal: Frag Grenade (unlocked at level 1)

With this MP5 version of Cold War, it won’t take you long to start defeating enemies, so starting health regeneration immediately after each battle with Quick Fix is a great combination. If level 42 sounds a little high, we recommend going with EOD as it will help mitigate damage from explosives and non-killstreak shots until you can unlock this perk.

As usual, we recommend going for Overkill as your second buff. As for our weapon of choice, the Swiss K31 is the perfect match. This sniper rifle is fast and can deal damage at long ranges in just a few seconds.

If a target manages to sneak past your sniper, don’t worry, as Amped will increase the speed of the action.

To complete the team, we went with fairly traditional options, with a stun grenade and a fragmentation grenade each. The SMG isn’t exactly suited for long distances, so throwing explosives or stunning enemies before launching an attack is a strategy you should consider.
