The US Indo-Pacific Command newsroom states: “In accordance with international law, the USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) and HMCS Montreal (FFH 336) conducted a routine transit from the south to the north of the Taiwan Strait on June 3 through waters where freedoms apply. navigation and overflight on the high seas.
“During the transit, PLA(N) LUYANG III DDG 132 (PRC LY 132) executed maneuvers in an unsafe manner in the vicinity of Chung-Hoon. PRC LY 132 passed Chung-Hoon on her port side and crossed her bow at 150 yards.
“Chung-Hoon stayed on course and reduced speed to 10 knots to avoid a collision.”
