Bulbasaur’s 100% perfect IV explained in Pokémon Go

A great reason to participate in the January Community Day Classic is the chance to catch a perfect Bulbasaur in Pokémon Go.

A Bulbasaur with 100% IV stats can evolve into Ivysaur and eventually a powerful Venusaur, which is a great choice for fighting in raids, gyms, and Go Battle League.

The CP values that correspond to perfect stats for 15/15/15 are as follows:

  • Level 30 (Max Wild CP) – 955 CP
  • Level 35 (maximum CP boosted by weather) – 1035 CP

The wild CP value aligns with your current trainer level until you reach level 30, so since the majority of the player base is above this level, we kept these values for simplicity. However, if you are currently below level 30, these values will be different.

Bulbasaur has two evolutions, Ivysaur and Venusaur, which require 25 candies and 100 candies respectively.

During the Community Day Classic, which will run from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm (local time), you will have enough time to collect Bulbasaur candy to evolve this Pokémon, teach it new moves, and power it up.

You can also use several methods to increase the amount of candy you earn:

  • Using a Pinap Berry will double the amount of candy you receive from 3 to 6.
  • Evolving a Grass or Poison-type Mega Evolution, such as Mega Venusaur or Mega Beedrill, during the event grants 1 extra candy per capture.

These methods are especially useful if you can only play for a small part of Community Day, but still want to evolve or power up a Bulbasaur.

Before evolving Bulbasaur, remember to check its IV stats or simply look for 3* and 4* to see which ones are worth investing in. Bulbasaur’s exclusive move, Fenzy Plant, will also be available until 7 pm (local time) on Community Day.

If you miss out on the moves, you’ll need to use an Elite TM or wait until December’s Community Day (assuming classic creatures return during the year-end catch-up event).

However, what is the best moveset for Venusaur?

Venusaur Moves Explained and Best Moveset Recommendation

For Venusaur’s best moves in Pokémon Go, we recommend Vine Whip (fast) with Frenzy Plant and Sludge Bomb (charged).

As expected, you’ll definitely want to make use of Venusaur’s Community Day exclusive move, Frenzy Plant, which makes Venusaur one of the best grass attackers in the game (especially considering its Mega Evolution).

Sludge Bomb is optional, but still recommended to give you a poison typing option. Meanwhile, while Vine Whip or Razer Leaf are good fast-moving options, Vine Whip almost beats it if you have a Fast TM to spare.

The above is, of course, our opinion. Venusaur’s full moveset, accessed via fast and charged TMs, is as follows:

Quick attacks:

  • Razor blade (grass)
  • Whip Vine (Grass)

Charged Attacks:

  • Frenzy Plant (Grass – Community Day / Elite Charged TM Exclusive)
  • Petal Blizzard (Grass)
  • Mud bomb (poison)
  • Sunbeam (grass)

Aside from the chance to create a powerful Venusaur, this Community Day is perfect for finding a shiny Bulbasaur…

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Out to Play event is currently taking place. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

What do shiny Bulbasaur, shiny Ivysaur, and shiny Venusaur look like in Pokémon Go?

Finding a shiny form for the featured Pokémon is one of the biggest attractions of any Community Day.

Along with the increased shiny rate for Community Days and how catching Pokémon of the same type naturally increases your chances of finding shiny, it’s easier to catch a shiny collection during these events.

When it comes to finding a shiny Pokémon, you must first start a catch encounter with a Pokémon in the wild. You’ll then be able to tell if the Pokémon you’re facing is shiny by its alternate color, the sparkles that shine at the start of the encounter, and the shiny icon next to its name.

Shiny Bulbasaur is very similar to the normal version, with only a slightly different skin tone, while the Ivysaur and Venusaur evolutions offer yellow plants on their backs:

If this is your first time facing the shiny form of a particular Pokémon, we recommend using Golden Razz Berries and Ultra Balls to increase your chances of catching it.

Shiny Bulbasaur is one of Pokémon Go’s first shiny releases, launching as part of its first Community Day in March 2018.

If you want to develop a shiny Bulbasaur, we recommend waiting until the end of Community Day. This is because you may be lucky enough to catch several shiny Bulbasaurs, and if so, it’s a good idea to check their IVs.

Doing so will not only give you a shiny Venusaur, but also a powerful one, and if it evolves before 7 pm (local time) on Community Day, it will know the exclusive move Plant Frenzy.

Community Day is the perfect opportunity to find a rare Pokémon and transform it into a powerful fighter. Take the time to carefully choose your Bulbasaurs, investing in their moveset, to make the most of this event.
