Pokémon Sword and Shield Fossil Pokémon – Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish and Arctovish fossil combinations and locations explained

There are four fossil Pokémon that you can revive in Pokémon Sword and Shield: Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish.

You bring the creation of these ancient creatures back to life by combining two different fossils that can be found in the Galar region, meaning you’re basically doing mad science, Jurassic Park style.

However, these fossils can be quite difficult to find, especially the rarity of each fossil differs depending on which version, Sword or Shield, you are playing.

In this page:

What are fossil Pokémon and their fossil combinations in Pokémon Sword and Shield?

There are four fossil Pokémon that you can keep in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Each requires two fossils to be brought back to life.

It’s also important to note that, like Aerodactyl, none of these fossil Pokémon can evolve.

Below you will find each of the new fossil Pokémon, their type, and the fossil needed to return them to the land of the living:

Pokemon Pokémon Type fossil one fossil two
Dracozolt Electric Dragon fossilized drake fossilized bird
Arctozolt Electric / Ice fossilized dinosaur fossilized bird
dracovisco Water dragon fossilized drake fossilized fish
Arctovish Frozen water fossilized dinosaur fossilized fish

Where to find fossils in Pokémon Sword and Shield

There are four types of fossils that you can discover in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The locations of these fossils change depending on the version you are playing.

The four fossils you can find are:

  • fossilized bird
  • fossilized dinosaur
  • fossilized drake
  • fossilized fish

This Pokémon is definitely suffering.

If you’re playing Pokémon Sword, you’ll find fossilized birds and dinosaurs on both Route 6 and the Dusty Bowl in the Wild Area. You can also visit the Pokémon Center in Stow-on Side to receive two fossilized birds from the man on the left side of the door.

If you’re playing Pokémon Shield, you can find fossilized fish and drakes on Route 6 and the Dusty Bowl in the Wild Area. The man at the Stow-on-Side Pokémon Center will also give you two fossilized Drakes.

However, the best method to find fossils in both games is to visit Digging Duo.

You can find the Digging Duo near the Pokémon Nursery in the Wild Area’s Bridge Field location.

As their name suggests, Digging Duo are a pair of brothers who will be happy to dig up rare items for you in exchange for Watts.

The skillful brother is on the left side, while the resilient brother is on the right side.

The brother on the left is more skilled at digging and will bring you rarer items, while the brother on the right has more stamina, allowing him to dig up more items.

Both brothers have the ability to dig fossils, but the expert brother (left side) is the best choice, because he can find all four types of fossils. Meanwhile, the right-hand brother of resistance can only find two fossils depending on your version of the game.

The probability of receiving each fossil also depends on the version of the game you are playing. A fossilized Drake, for example, is easier to find in Pokémon Shield than in Sword.

It is important to note that every time you pay one of the brothers, they will also save your game. This means you can’t turn off the game if you don’t get the items you want, so it’s a good idea to save up Watts if you want a particular fossil.

Below you will find the fossils that each brother can give you, depending on your version of the game and the probability of that occurring:

How to revive fossil Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Once you’ve created a nice collection of fossils, it’s time to start playing with nature and bringing some Pokémon back to life. (Whether they want it or not…)

Head to Route 6, which is between Stow-on-Side and Hammerlocke, and find Professor Cara Liss. She will stand out, not only because of the lab coat, but also because of the strange machine next to her.

The location of Professor Cara Liss.

You can quickly reach Professor Cara Liss by flying to Route 6 and then climbing the hill immediately to your left.

When you talk to the teacher, she will ask you to choose two different fossils. Be sure to choose carefully, as these decisions determine which fossil Pokémon you will receive.

You will be given the opportunity to change your selection, but once you confirm that these are the fossils you want to restore, there will be no turning back.

Once the restoration process is complete, Professor Cara Liss will give you your new fossil Pokémon. You can then give it a nickname, add it to your party, read its summary, or send it a box as if you caught this Pokémon in the wild.

Each fossil Pokémon you receive will be at level 10, so if you plan on having one in your party, it’s a good idea to try to get it as soon as possible.
