Catching Some Z’s is a Pokémon Go event celebrating the upcoming release of Pokémon Go Plus+ and Pokémon Sleep.
While this event may be short and will only last one weekend, it will see the introduction of a Gen 7 Pokémon, Komala, into Pokémon Go.
Meanwhile, if you purchased Pokémon Go Plus+, you’ll gain access to the Catching Some Z special research quest. Completing this special research quest will allow you to add a Nightcap Snorlax to your collection of costume Pokémon, but to do so, you’ll need to know the steps and rewards of the Catching Some Z mission.

Steps and rewards of the ‘Catch some Z’ mission in Pokémon Go
Below you will find the steps for the Catching Some Z mission and the rewards for the Special Research mission, which is currently exclusive to Pokémon Go Plus + owners.

‘Catching some Z’ Step 1 of 2
- Catch 20 Pokémon in Poké Balls using Pokémon Go Plus + – 25 Poké Balls
- Catch 10 Pokémon in Great Balls or Ultra Balls using Pokémon Go Plus+ – 15 Great Balls
- Spin 15 PokéStops using Pokémon Go Plus + – 2000 Stardust
- Sleep tracking with Pokémon Go Plus+ for 7 days – Encounter with Komala

Rewards: 2500 XP and 2500 Stardust
The Hidden Gems Season is coming to an end. Before it ends, try to finish the special research missions Fascinating Facets and Sky High. You can also complete a route and fight in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to run into Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
How Catch Some Zs Work in Pokémon Go
The Catching Some Z Special Research Mission is exclusive to players who purchased Pokémon Go Plus+ and will be available shortly after you have paired this device with Pokémon Go.
The Catching Some Z quest will still be available after the Catching Some Z event in Pokémon Go ends. This means that no matter when someone purchases a Pokémon Go Plus+, they will still be able to claim the Catching Some Z quest.

Once unlocked, the Catching Some Z special research mission will work exactly the same as any other research mission of this type in Pokémon Go. (Well, you’ll have to sleep for one of the tasks, which is pretty unique.)
Since there is no deadline, Catching Some Z’s can be completed at your own pace. This gives you as much time as you want to complete each challenge and step of the mission, collecting the rewards for each to move forward, before reaching the end of the mission and, with it, the final reward.
