National Farmer’s Day or Kisan Diwas 2022: Celebrated annually on December 23 to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. He was the fifth Prime Minister of India and is remembered for the contributions he made to the betterment of farmers across the country. He was an agricultural leader and introduced several policies to ensure improvement in the lives of Indian farmers. He was born to a Jat couple in Noorpur in 1902.

Farmers are the strength of the country. India rejoices on Farmers’ Day by remembering Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former Prime Minister. He was primarily a farmer and his individual way of life was exceptionally simple.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was a soil boy and has taken various actions to improve the scenario of Indian agriculture. His brief stay at the top has seen a swing in agricultural reforms and policies introduced in India. Charan Singh’s farming experience helped him understand the real constraints of the farmer and he contributed a lot to support them.

Chaudhary Charan Singh is credited with the invention and execution of the well-known Zamindari Abolition Act. His ardent petition and his compelling personality united all the farmers against the landlords and moneylenders. He was even a very efficient author and expressed his feelings about farmers and their problems and solutions. Charan Singh died on May 29, 1987.
Kisan Divas are appreciated for their valuable services to the farmers of our nation. The entire country rejoices on Farmer’s Day. Farmers and people of rural society held concerts and agricultural celebrations and paid obeisance to their beloved leader. The government even declares new policies related to agriculture, seeds, etc.

How is the day celebrated?
1. The government announces new policies for the benefit of farmers.
2. Kisan seminars are organized at divisional, district and block level.
3. Agricultural officials and agricultural scientists report the latest data on farmers performing these functions.
4. Farmer seminars are held at various agricultural science venues and agricultural knowledge venues.
5. The district rural development company organizes seminars, festivals and exhibitions on various factors of agriculture and rural development.
6. Farmers are educated about agricultural insurance plans.
The Indian government is making several plans to improve the economic situation of farmers but unfortunately, the results are not yet visible.
