Most successful captains in IPL: In the 16-year history of the Indian Premier League, hundreds of players and dozens of teams have participated. But only a few have experienced the glory of lifting the IPL Trophy. Most IPL franchise owners shell out a lot of money for players and stack their teams with the best cricketers from around the world.
Look at the list of every IPL team and you will find that each of them is full of extremely talented and gifted players. Many young and hungry athletes who have made their mark in domestic cricket also play in the IPL. On top of that, every team has a famous cricketer, a living legend in many cases as a coach or mentor. Franchise owners spend millions in every IPL auction to build their team.
However, we have seen time and again that past IPL winning teams or even defending champions struggle in subsequent seasons. The T20 format of IPL is a highly volatile form of cricket that puts immense pressure on both bowlers and strikers.
When players bowling maidens in Test cricket get six consecutive sixes, it can really affect your mindset. Cricketers often play hastily in the IPL under pressure to score more runs or take more wickets. This can result in poor performance on your part and cause the entire team to suffer a loss.

The captain of a cricket team is the most important player among the 11 teams that play, but in the IPL his role becomes even more critical. A good captain can maneuver the team to take advantage of strengths and negate weaknesses.
Hard work, strategies and planning dissipate during the match, and the only thing that matters is the individual performance of the players and the leadership of the captain. Smart play and skillful decisions are what win games, and that is precisely the job of the team captain.
On that note, we bring you this article on the most successful and match-winning captains in the history of the IPL.
