What are the best Modern Warfare weapons after the Season 5 update?

Seasons change much faster in Modern Warfare than they do in real life, and each one brings with it new weapons, adjustments, and potential meta changes.
Season 5 brought with it two new weapons and a number of changes, but the Grau 5.56 is still the best option, followed closely by two weapons that were recently nerfed but still somewhat viable: the Bruen MK9 and the FAL.

While the Grau has been the featured rifle in Modern Warfare for some time now, especially for the Warzone and Ground War game modes where long-range weapons are king. The Grau is capable of dealing reliable damage at a considerable distance and at the same time has excellent iron sights, so you don’t need a telescopic sight.
This despite some mid-season nerfs at the end of June. While they sounded pretty drastic in the patch notes, the actual changes to the weapon are negligible, given how powerful it is in the right hands.

Combining this with a short-range weapon like a submachine gun or shotgun, or long-range options like a sniper rifle, is still a powerful strategy.
It’s a little sad to see that the classic M4A1 hasn’t returned to the top, but you can’t deny the Grau 5.56, even if you try to take it out of the meta. The MP5 also received some nerfs a few patches ago, but thanks to the focus on 10mm ammo, you can avoid many of them by simply using the 9mm ammo as usual.
The M4A1 is still valid, but it is no longer the best.

It’s great even at a basic level, but equipped with the right accessories it becomes an absolute monster.
Its range rivals that of a marksman rifle and its accuracy is also surprisingly similar to that of a laser.
It’s simply a very powerful weapon, and that’s why it’s the best assault rifle in Modern Warfare, and probably the best weapon in Warzone as well.

Snipers have the AX-50, which isn’t unlocked until much later in the progression, but has incredible stopping power. Most of the time, a single shot will take down an enemy in standard multiplayer and has good mobility compared to the other options.
This makes it a great option for people who like to shoot once and then move to a new position. Its advantage over other sniper rifles such as the HDR and Rytec AMR is that with the right accessories, aiming down sights can be very fast, allowing for a quick succession of kill shots. However, the AX-50 is not as stable and its bullet travels slower than these alternatives, making it a worse option at Warzone’s extreme ranges.

Technically speaking, the Crossbow is part of the Marksman Rifle family. That means medium-long range and focusing on accuracy above all.
Either way, it can be tricky to use one of these rifles, but the crossbow is particularly difficult to master due to its slow firing rate. However, it also tends to be a one-hit kill, and you can even upgrade it to use special bolts for even greater impact.
The fact that the crossbow is silent makes it useful if you’re willing to put in the time to master it, but it’s quite a tough sell compared to other weapons due to its slow nature. A nice bonus that might make it worth it is that people get extraordinarily angry if you shoot them enough times, so at least that’s what there is!
