This eventful year of 2022 saw major ups and downs, wars and revolutions, trends and tragedies, and as we say goodbye, let us remember some of the important global figures we lost this year.
The most shocking death was that of Britain’s longest-serving monarch in the month of September. He helped modernize the monarchy through decades of enormous social change, royal marriages and births and family scandals in his 70 years on the throne.
A collective avalanche of pain and respect was manifested around the world.
“Queen Elizabeth had a life well lived, a promise whose destiny she fulfilled, and we deeply mourn her passing. I renew that promise of permanent service to all of you today. Her dedication and devotion as her sovereign never wavered, neither in times of change and progress, nor in times of joy and celebration, nor in times of sadness and loss,” King Charles said.
