How to Access the Imbaru Engine in Destiny 2
The Imbaru Engine is an important space for Savathun, the Witch Queen. Here, anyone who falls victim to her schemes and schemes creates a tithe that increases her power. With her (apparent) demise in the Witch Queen expansion, she is now used as a testing ground for the Guardians.
This luminal space exists within your Summoning Altars and is first accessed as part of week 5 of the Bladed Path quest. Once the space is unlocked, you can enter by opening the Director, navigating to HELM, and selecting the Imbaru Engine location at the bottom.
How to Solve the Imbaru Engine Cunning Test in Destiny 2
The first test within the Imbaru engine is the cunning test. This is a battle of wits against Savathun, who sends you to open a series of chests, deciphering which ones contain treasure and which are hoaxes.
This starts at step 33 of the Bladed Path quest. First, he visits the Divination Lectern in the Athenaeum (accessed through the portal in the HELM) and picks up the minor arcana card “A Gift of Cunning”.
Next, enter the Imbaru engine through the Director. Here you will see two chests. One will be the real one, the other a trap set by Savathun. The indication will be which one is marked with this Hive Rune.
Open the correct chest and a new group will appear. Now locate the two chests marked with the symbol. Please note that the Hive Runes will not always be visible; You may need to climb or crouch around surfaces to find them.
Once all the correct chests from this phase have been found, one more wave will spawn. Find the symbols once again and open all the correct chests. Once you have done so, you will pass this cunning test and receive loot and knowledge as a reward.
How to Solve the Imbaru Engine Strength Test in Destiny 2
The Test of Strength begins with the minor arcana card ‘A Gift of Strength’. However, unlike the previous step, the card will not simply be given to you; you have to find it.
Start the Savathun’s Spire activity from HELM in the Director. Proceed to the end of the portal puzzle near the end of the mission. Once you reach the last portal room, look at the wall near the rightmost portal. The card will be on the ground, ready to be picked up.
Now enter the Imbaru engine. You’ll take a pair of elevators up to the same room where the Test of Cunning took place. Complete the cunning test and then locate the door near where the first chests appeared. Interact with it and it will open, allowing you to ascend further into the Tower. As you progress, keep looking for doors that open as you approach. Avoid some traps and you will reach an elevator that leads to a high room with a series of arrows on the floor.
There will be a glowing orb of light on the ground that you can interact with to begin the test. Several Hive enemies will appear on each of the arrows. Your goal is to kill specific ones, in the correct order.
First you will need to know where to start. Go up a small ramp and interact with the glowing sphere to get Deepsight Vision. This will reveal white footprints leading to the first enemy. Take this out and see where the arrow points for your next target.
Continue following this pattern. If you ever kill the wrong target, several invincible Shriekers will kill you and you will have to start the puzzle over.
Finally you will be taken to a smaller chamber. Here the pattern changes. Kill the first enemy, but this time skip the next one and eliminate the next one. Continue eliminating every second enemy in the chain ahead of you and eventually a message will appear announcing “You have conjured war.” This indicates that you have passed the test of strength and the mission will conclude.
How to Solve the Imbaru Engine Navigation Test in Destiny 2
To perform the Navigation test it will be necessary to first acquire the Minor Arcana card A Gift of Navigation.
Enter the Alter of Summoning activity through the HELM in the Director. One of the sections where the battles take place houses a statue of the hive holding a crystal. Shoot the crystal to reveal the card you can collect. Now go to the Ateneo aboard the HELM and interact with the Divination Lectern to unlock the card.
Now return the Imbaru engine. You’ll take a pair of elevators up to the same room where the Test of Cunning took place. You can complete the Wits check to gain some XP, but it is not required. Open the door leading to the Test of Strength, but stop when you reach the door to enter his room.
There is a second door nearby on this level. Enter to ascend a second hallway and ride a gravity elevator to the top of the structure. Locate a narrow staircase that leads to an open door and “activate the magic of the hive” when you are promoted to start the Navigation Challenge.
You will be in a round room with several hive symbols around you. The objective of the test is to shoot the correct symbol to activate a series of portals and go through them. Going through the wrong portal will kill you and restart the test.
Look behind the door you entered through and note the type and location of the symbol. Find which portal has the same symbol in the same location and shoot the symbol using an item that matches its color. The portal will open, you will go through it and repeat the process.
After passing through the second portal, the test will become more difficult. The extra symbols will obscure some of the shapes, you will have to move and find angles that allow you to see the true symbols near the portals so you can locate and shoot the correct one and advance through the portal.
The last room is even more challenging. As before, look where you start to find the shape you are referring to. The rest of the hive symbols will float in the center of the room. Now you will have to jump to the different platforms to align them with the different doors. When you are in the place with the correct perspective there will be a symbol that corresponds to the reference, and you can shoot it with the correct item to open the last portal.
Go through this final portal and the Navigation Test will be complete.
