How to level up fast in GTA Online

To level up quickly in GTA Online, you need to focus all your energy on getting more RP. This is also known as reputation, but throughout the game it is primarily known as RP.

But don’t worry, you’ll almost always earn GTA$ while earning RP, so it’s a win-win situation. It’s pretty easy to get RP by doing anything while playing GTA Online (aside from dying), but there are a few ways that are the most effective at earning a large amount quickly.

What is RP in GTA Online?

RP is essentially GTA Online’s version of XP, it can be collected and used to increase your character’s rank. As your character’s rank increases, more weapons, vehicles, and opportunities will be available to you.

For example, when you head into Ammu-Nation with a lower level, you will notice that many of the weapons have levels locked. This means that you cannot access the weapon until you reach the required level, which can be a hassle when encountering attackers who possess powerful weapons.

In short, RP (aka reputation) is your way to get better items and experiences.

How to track your PR

You can track your RP once you’re in a GTA Online game session (it doesn’t matter if you’re in a public or private session, you can check it the same way). The RP bar will show you your current rank, how far you have to go to the next rank, and what the next rank is.

There are two ways to check your RP levels and the first is to wait for the RP bar to appear at the top of the screen. This usually happens after earning some RP points and will look like this:

However, if you don’t want to wait for him to appear, you can check your level by pressing the button you would use to cycle between the main characters in the base game. Do this and make sure your character is selected, then your current rank and RP progress will be displayed at the top of your screen.

Tips to get more RP quickly in GTA Online

Here are our top tips and methods to get more RP quickly in GTA Online:

Participate in Free Mode events and win

If you don’t want to invest your time in completing a longer mission or task, then participating in any Free Mode event is the way to go. If you’re browsing and a Freemode event is starting, it’s a good idea to get involved.

Sometimes there will be a countdown to when the event starts (usually no more than 5 minutes). It is especially important to consider when the event requires special equipment or vehicles, such as an airplane.

Naturally, you’ll get the maximum amount of RP for coming first in the event, then a little less for second, and a little less for third. However, even if you don’t win, you will earn some points for participating.

Some Freemode events take place in the air.

Note: You cannot participate in most Freemode events if you are in passive mode.

pull heists

Performing successful heists will grant you large amounts of RP in one go.

That said, many heists require you to do prep missions and invest in equipment, but the payoff is often worth it if you want to earn a lot of RP in addition to cash. Plus, most of the heists are just entertaining.

Join or start your own missions.

For those who want to earn a little more RP without competing with other players, it is a great idea to participate in fixed missions.

You can join quests started by other players – invitations are sent via in-game text messages if a job is available. Alternatively, you can drive to any marker on the map to start a new mission.

Additionally, you can contact one of your contacts on your in-game phone to start a job. For example, to start one of Fooligan’s jobs, you can call Dax once he’s added it to your contacts.

It’s important to note that you get the most RP for completing a mission.

Do Time Trials every week

There are three time trial activities you can do, and if you beat par time on a particular course, you’ll earn RP plus GTA$.

The time trials themselves rotate each week, so if you get bored of completing one, another won’t be far away. These are the icons you should look for on the map:

Complete seasonal events and tasks.

Now, they may not always be available, but seasonal events are a great way to earn tons of RP quickly. In addition to significant cash rewards, participating in seasonal events and tasks can reward you with huge RP drops.

Spin the wheel of luck at the Diamond Casino

Spinning the lucky wheel at Diamond Casino is an extremely easy way to earn RP.

Head to the Lucky Wheel next to the Podium Vehicle in Diamond Casino and spin it to see if you can get some RP. You must first purchase a membership at the front desk for $500, but it’s a one-time payment.
