How to get Arceus in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
If you want to catch Arecus in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you must first meet three requirements.
The first is to have a Pokémon Legends: Arceus save file on your Nintendo Switch where you have completed all the main missions. This includes the post-game quests, and if you want to know where you are in the main campaign, visit our Pokémon Legends: Arceus walkthrough.
Secondly, in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you must have entered the Hall of Fame by defeating the Elite Four and unlocking the National Pokédex. If you haven’t completed the main campaign yet, visit our Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl walkthrough.
Finally, you need to download version 1.3.0 for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which was released on Tuesday, March 15. It should automatically download to your Nintendo Switch if it is connected to the Internet.
If this hasn’t happened, make sure your console is connected to the Internet and then press the ‘+’ button when selecting Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl from the main menu. Here you will find the option to perform a software update either over the Internet or by matching your current version with that of local users.
Once you have met these requirements, start Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl and visit your house in Twinleaf Town. Here, in your room on the top floor, you will find the Blue Flute next to the Nintendo Switch.
After collecting the Blue Flute, stock up on health items and your favorite Poké Balls before visiting the Spear Pillar atop Mount Coronet. Upon arrival, you will be asked to play the Blue Flute and as you do so, a ladder will appear.
Arceus is waiting for you at the top of these stairs, and since this Pokémon isn’t shiny locked, this is the perfect place to save if you’re shiny hunting.
Arceus will be level 80 and, since it is a normal-type Pokémon, it is weak to fighting-type attacks. But be careful: you don’t want Arceus to faint!
We recommend using a Pokémon that is below level 80 and can attack Arceus’s weaknesses, so you can safely lower its health. It’s also a good idea to paralyze or put Arceus to sleep to reduce its ability to attack you.
Finally, Ultra Balls are a good Poké Ball option, but if you still have it, you can always use the Master Ball. However, you might want to keep it in case you come across a shiny Pokémon!
