Halo’s co-op has been a staple of the franchise, and unfortunately, at least at launch, Halo Infinite is an exception.
The co-op campaign is not available in Halo Infinite at the moment, but developer 343 Industries has confirmed that it will be available and has given us an estimated release date and beta release date to work from.
This means that eventually you and a friend will play the campaign in co-op, and not just rely on normal multiplayer to save the galaxy together.

Let’s get to the point: there is no co-op campaign at Halo Infinite’s launch.
Yes, we agree that this is a bit of a bummer. The promise of playing the campaign in co-op alongside a friend or stranger online is always tempting, but you’ll have to wait.
As part of a roadmap for 2022, developer 343 confirmed that it is targeting late August as the release date for the networked cooperative game.
Until then, you can sign up for the Halo Infinite co-op beta, which will run during the week starting Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 22 through the Xbox Insider program.
To clarify, the “target” was sometime during the week and not the 11th, 343 said, and it will finally go live on the 15th.
Players have already been putting it to the test, with similar antics involving the grappling hook as in the single-player mode:

During the week of July 11, the Halo Infinite co-op flight is open to those who have signed up for the Halo Insider program and have access to the Halo Infinite campaign (either purchased or through Xbox Game Pass). You should receive an email when you have confirmed access.
Please note that flight progress will not carry over to the full game, as it will be a separate client from the main game before the full release in August.
Access to the Halo Infinite flight requires you to download the Xbox Insider Hub app on Xbox consoles, which is Microsoft’s way of allowing users to download pre-release software.
To download the Xbox Insider app on Xbox platforms, follow these steps:
1. Scroll down the dashboard home screen and open the store.
2. Search for “Insider” (it also appeared automatically in the ‘trending’ bar for us, which will be faster).
3. Download the Xbox Insider Hub app.
4. Once downloaded, navigate to the Previews section and download the Halo Infinite – Insider client.
From there, the Halo Infinite flight will begin downloading.
Halo Infinite Flight Access for PC: How to Play the Halo Infinite Co-Op Beta on PC
During the week of July 11, the Halo Infinite co-op flight is open to those who have signed up for the Halo Insider program and have access to the Halo Infinite campaign by purchasing the game or via a subscription to Xbox Game Pass for PC.
Please note that flight progress will not carry over to the full game, as it will be a separate client from the main game before the full release in August.
Once you’ve registered, a unique code will be sent to you through the Halo Insider portal so you can download and access the flight.

Halo Infinite Split-Screen Co-Op Release Date Estimate
Meanwhile, those who want to play locally in split-screen co-op will have to wait until Season 3 at the earliest. This begins on November 8, 2022, and even then the mode itself has a TBD goal, meaning it will likely appear mid-season as well.
Of course, both may come later, as co-op was originally planned for the start of Season 2 in May 2022.

How will co-op work in Halo Infinite?
Halo Infinite features a large map with more freedom of exploration than we’re used to in the series, and this can be enjoyed to the fullest with the co-op campaign.
Developer 343 has confirmed that the following features will be available:
- Up to four players can play together.
- All progress and unlocks will be retained for each player in their own save games.
- Everyone will play as Master Chief
- Ability to repeat missions and revisit previous missions with later unlocks and upgrades, such as Spartan Cores
- Cross-play between all platforms including Xbox, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming
- dedicated servers
- New achievements related to the addition of cooperative mode and mission repetition.
In other words, everything in the solo campaign will be co-op and progress will carry over to later sessions, solo or not. And for those who have already completed the campaign, the introduction of new achievements will give them an incentive to return.
